How to Identify Your Keyway Before Ordering Key Blanks
The keyway is stamped or molded on the bow of the key, which is the part you hold when turning the key. Common commercial keyway designations: Schlage C (the most widely installed keyway in the US), Schlage SC (commercial standard, slightly different profile from C), Schlage E and EF (restricted security keyways), Sargent LA (standard commercial Sargent), Sargent LC, Corbin Russwin H and HC, BEST A through E for IC programs, Falcon R and S keyways, and dormakaba keyways. If the keyway isn't visible on the existing key, pull the cylinder from the lock and look at the keyway profile. Call us with the lock manufacturer and model series and we can identify the correct blank from there.
