Alarm Lock DL2700: Complete Specification, Programming, and Application Guide

The DL2700 is the Alarm Lock Trilogy standalone keypad lock for commercial access control where basic PIN entry is the core requirement. It supports 100 user codes across four permission levels, uses a weatherproof all-metal 12-button keypad, holds BHMA Grade 1 cylindrical certification, and delivers approximately 200,000 operating cycles from five AA alkaline batteries. The DL2700 programs entirely from the keypad without a PC or cable, installs in a standard modified ANSI 115 door preparation, and operates at -31°F to +151°F. For applications that need reliable PIN-controlled access on secondary doors without audit trail logging, scheduling, or network wiring, the DL2700 is the correct specification. For applications requiring any of those additional features, the DL3200 or DL4100 is the correct upgrade.

DL2700 Code Hierarchy: Four Levels Explained

Master code (1 code): Full administrative access. Sets and changes all codes, manages all settings, and activates passage mode from programming. Write the master code down immediately and store it off-site. A lost master code requires a factory reset that permanently deletes all user codes and settings.

Manager codes (10 codes): Adds and removes basic user codes without master code access. Cannot change the master code or other manager codes. Correct for department heads and shift supervisors managing staff access at their door level.

Basic user codes (89 codes): Entry access only. Cannot add other codes, change settings, or access programming. Correct for the majority of staff, tenants, and regular users.

Service codes (3 codes): Temporary entry access for technicians and vendors. Delete after each service event. The three-code limit prevents uncontrolled accumulation of service access credentials.

DL2700 Programming: Three Steps for Correct Initial Setup

Step 1 - Install fresh alkaline batteries first. Five AA alkaline batteries only. Lithium and NiMH batteries produce erratic behavior during DL2700 programming. Install fresh alkaline before any programming begins.

Step 2 - Set the master code before anything else. Press and release the AL button (lower left of keypad), enter the programming sequence from the DL2700 programming sheet included with the lock, then enter and confirm the new master code. No other programming is possible until the master code is established.

Step 3 - Add user codes. Enter programming mode with the master code. Select the add-user function. Enter and confirm each code. Codes cannot duplicate any existing code at any level - the DL2700 rejects duplicates.

DL2700 Factory Reset: Lost Master Code Recovery

A factory reset permanently clears all programming. No data is recoverable.

  1. Remove the battery pack completely

  2. Press and hold any numeric key for 10 seconds with batteries disconnected

  3. Reconnect the battery pack

  4. Within 3 seconds, press and hold the AL button until the lock beeps 6 times

The DL2700 returns to factory state. All codes and settings are deleted. Begin fresh from Step 1.

DL2700LD: The K-12 Lockdown Variant

The DL2700LD adds a compact lockdown keyfob that activates immediate outside lockdown from anywhere in the room without approaching the door. In a K-12 active threat scenario, the teacher presses the keyfob - the outside keypad locks instantly, including manager and master codes. The inside lever remains operational for code-compliant egress.

The lockdown indicator on the exterior keypad face activates to signal locked status. Each keyfob is specific to the lock it ships with. Field retrofit of lockdown capability onto a standard DL2700 is not possible - the DL2700LD must be specified at order time.
