About this item
The Adams Rite 4304 is a surface-mounted, no-cut deadlatch strike designed specifically for the Adams Rite 4300 Steel Hawk Electrified Deadlatch. It mounts flat against the frame face without requiring any frame prep, routed pocket, or cutout. The 4304 is the correct replacement or retrofit strike when the existing frame has no Adams Rite strike pocket and you need to get the 4300 operational without cutting into the frame. American Locksets stocks the 4304-630 in Satin Stainless Steel with same-day shipping and free shipping on orders over $300.
Adams Rite 4304 Surface Mount Strike for 4300 Steel Hawk, No-Cut, Satin Stainless Steel
The 4304 mounts to the door frame surface with standard fasteners. No mortising, no grinding, no frame modification required. When the 4300 Steel Hawk latchbolt closes against the strike, the strike captures it in the same way a mortised strike would, without requiring the frame to be cut to accept it. For retrofit projects on existing aluminum frames where the frame was never prepped for a deadlatch, the 4304 eliminates the need for frame work and gets the electrified deadlatch system operational in a fraction of the time.
The 4304-630 is the flat jamb configuration, finished in 630 Satin Stainless Steel. It is also available in 313 Dark Bronze Anodized and 335 Black Anodized. Confirm finish at time of order to match the 4300 latch faceplate and frame finish on your project.
When to Use the 4304 vs. 4901 Strike
Adams Rite offers two strike options for the 4300 Steel Hawk series, and choosing the wrong one creates either a frame modification problem or a flush alignment problem.
The 4304 surface mount strike is the right choice when the frame has no existing Adams Rite strike preparation, when a retrofit needs to be completed without frame modification, or when frame cutting is not permitted on the project. It sits proud of the frame face and does not require any routed pocket.
The 4901-01 is the mortised flush strike. It requires a pocket routed into the frame so the strike sits flush with the frame face. Use the 4901-01 when covering an existing MS deadlock preparation on the frame, or when a new installation specifies a flush finish for aesthetic or code reasons. The 4901-02 is the 4901 with a radius profile and extended lip options for pairs of doors, center-hung applications, or thick door configurations.
For any new construction project with no existing frame prep where a flush strike is preferred, the 4901-01 is the correct spec. For any retrofit where cutting into the frame is the obstacle, the 4304 is the correct spec.
The 4300 Steel Hawk Electrified Deadlatch System
The 4304 is a component strike for the Adams Rite 4300 Steel Hawk Electrified Deadlatch. The 4300 is a non-handed, narrow backset, fail secure electrified deadlatch built for narrow stile aluminum entrance doors. It operates on 12, 16, or 24 VDC field-selectable voltage, interfaces with standard access control panels via quick-connect plug, and accepts any standard Adams Rite MS cam mortise cylinder. The 4300 is interchangeable without stile modification with Adams Rite MS deadlocks and 4500 and 4900 series deadlatches, which makes it the standard electrified deadlatch choice across aluminum storefront door schedules.
The 4304 surface mount strike is sold separately from the 4300 latch body. When ordering the 4300 as a complete package, confirm whether the strike is included in the specified RITE Pack or ordered separately, and whether the project calls for the surface mount 4304 or the mortised 4901 configuration.
