Sargent Mortise Locks
We carry Sargent 7300 Series and 7800 Series Grade 1 mortise locksets in all standard commercial function codes, finishes, and cylinder preps including Sargent SFIC.
Sargent 7300 Series vs. 7800 Series: The Commercial vs. Architectural Grade 1
The Sargent 7300 Series is the standard Grade 1 mortise specification for institutional applications schools, hospitals, universities, and commercial primary entries. The 7800 Series offers an expanded range of trim designs and finish options for projects with higher aesthetic requirements such as corporate headquarters, government buildings, and hospitality applications. Both series are Grade 1 under ANSI A156.13 and UL listed for 3-hour fire-rated door assemblies. Trim designs coordinate with Sargent 8800 Series lever locks and Sargent exit devices for complete single-brand hardware schedules.
Sargent Mortise vs. Schlage L Series: When Does Campus Standard Drive the Choice?
Campus standardization drives the answer in most cases. A facility that has run Sargent hardware for decades stays on Sargent because of the existing masterkey program, maintenance staff familiarity, and parts inventory. If there's no existing campus standard, both Schlage L Series and Sargent 7300 Series deliver Grade 1 mortise performance. The Schlage L Series supports 40+ function options. The Sargent 7300 Series coordinates across a full Sargent single-brand specification. Let the project's existing hardware standard guide the selection.
Sargent SFIC Prep for Mortise Locks
Sargent mortise locks are available with Sargent SFIC prep for facilities on Sargent interchangeable core masterkey programs. See Sargent IC cores here. If the facility is on a BEST SFIC, Schlage SFIC, or Arrow SFIC program, confirm the prep format before ordering the external housing dimensions are the same across SFIC formats but keyways and core profiles differ.
