Rockwood: The Institutional Standard for Commercial Architectural Door Trim
Rockwood is one of the most specified brands for commercial architectural door trim in US institutional construction. Their kick plates, mop plates, pull plates, push bars, and armor plates are found in schools, hospitals, government buildings, and corporate offices across the country. Rockwood products are available in the full range of ANSI finish codes — US26D (626) satin chrome, US32D (630) satin stainless, US10B (613) oil-rubbed bronze, US3 (605) bright brass, US28 (628) aluminum to match any hardware schedule specification. See all kick plate and mop plate options here.
Rockwood vs. Trimco: The Two Dominant Trim Brands
Rockwood and Trimco are the two most specified commercial architectural trim brands in North America. Both cover kick plates, mop plates, push plates, pull plates, and builders hardware accessories at comparable price points and quality levels. Campus standardization drives the choice in most cases. The ANSI finish codes are the same across both brands US26D on a Rockwood kick plate matches US26D on a Trimco push plate. The choice comes down to distributor availability and campus preference, not product quality differences.
Kick Plate Sizing for Commercial Doors
Standard kick plate height is 10 to 16 inches. Width is the door width minus 2 inches for edge clearance. A 36-inch door gets a 34-inch wide kick plate. For door reinforcers and latch guards, see the door guards section.
