About this item
Most floor-mounted dome stops are profiled for either a low clearance or a high clearance door. That means specifying two different SKUs when your project has mixed door conditions. The Cal-Royal ZNUS-82 eliminates that. It's a heavy duty cast zinc dome stop engineered to work in both low profile and high profile configurations, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.16 at both standards. One product covers both door types without swapping hardware.
It's a small product with a specific job, but the ZNUS-82 does it better than most alternatives on the market. Cast zinc construction is heavier and more rigid than stamped steel stops, which means it holds position under repeated door contact without deforming or loosening over time. The rubber bumper absorbs impact and won't scar or mark the door surface, which matters on finished hollow metal and wood doors in commercial interiors where surface damage becomes a maintenance issue. Low Profile vs. High Profile: What It Means for Installation
Profile selection is about the clearance between the door bottom and the floor. A low profile door stop sits close to the floor and is used on standard doors without thresholds or undercuts. A high profile stop has additional height to engage the door at a point above the floor, which is required on doors with thresholds, carpet transitions, or undercuts where a low profile stop would miss the door sweep entirely.
Most dome stop products are manufactured for one profile or the other. The ZNLS-21 is Cal-Royal's low profile only version, designed specifically for doors with thresholds or undercut doors. The ZNHS-37 is the high profile only version. The ZNUS-82 is the universal design that handles both conditions, which is why it's the standard specification for projects where door clearances haven't been confirmed for every opening, or where floor finishes vary across a building.
Cast Zinc vs. Stamped Steel: Why Material Matters on a Door Stop
It's easy to underestimate how much force a door stop absorbs daily. In a commercial corridor with a self-closing door, that stop takes a full door impact every time someone props the door open or lets it swing. Stamped steel stops bend, loosen, and work out of their floor anchors over time. Cast zinc holds shape under repeated loading because the material is poured and solidified in one piece with no seams or press joints. The ZNUS-82 won't deform under normal commercial use, and the plastic floor anchor keeps the unit fixed without requiring epoxy or special fasteners.
Available Finishes
Satin Chrome, US10B Oil Rubbed Bronze, and US1 Matte Black. All finishes are ANSI/BHMA A156.18 compliant. Select the finish that matches your adjacent door hardware for a consistent architectural appearance across the opening.
