Corbin Russwin Exit Devices: The Northeast Healthcare Standard
Corbin Russwin ED5200 and ED5400 Series exit devices are the standard panic hardware specification on Corbin Russwin-standardized campus projects -- predominantly northeast US hospital systems and universities that have run Corbin Russwin hardware for decades. UL 305 panic hardware listed and UL 10C fire exit hardware listed. ED5200 Series is the standard line; ED5400 Series is the heavy-duty specification for higher-traffic and abuse-prone primary building entries. Both series coordinate in finish with Corbin Russwin CL3 Series lever locks and Corbin Russwin ML2000 mortise hardware for complete single-brand institutional hardware schedules. We've been an authorized Corbin Russwin distributor since 2001. Call 877-471-4870 for ED5200 and ED5400 pricing and function code guidance.
ED5200 Rim vs. SVR vs. CVR
ED5200 rim devices for single doors -- the device mounts on the door face with the latch engaging the rim strike on the door frame. ED5200 SVR (surface vertical rod) for paired doors without a center mullion -- rods extend vertically from the device body to top and bottom latching points. ED5200 CVR (concealed vertical rod) for architectural applications where the surface rods on the SVR would be visible and conflict with the design intent. CVR requires factory door prep -- rods are inside the door. For most applications, especially retrofits, specify SVR. For new construction high-design applications, specify CVR and coordinate with the door manufacturer for factory prep.
Corbin Russwin N9903ET: Electrified Trim for ED5000 Devices
The Corbin Russwin N9903ET is an electrified outside trim for ED5000 Series exit devices, providing credential-controlled outside lever access without a separate electric strike. When the access control panel sends an unlock signal, the outside lever releases for a timed entry period. Inside push bar provides code-compliant panic egress at all times. Available in fail-safe and fail-secure configurations. Requires a UL-listed access control power supply and wiring through electrified hinges for concealed conductor routing.
Frequently Asked Questions: Corbin Russwin Exit Devices
Is Corbin Russwin exit device trim interchangeable with Von Duprin or Sargent?
No. Corbin Russwin exit device outside trim is brand-specific and series-specific. A Von Duprin lever trim won't mount on a Corbin Russwin exit device body and vice versa. When ordering replacement trim for an existing installation, specify the exact Corbin Russwin trim series number matching the device body model. Call 877-471-4870 with the device model for trim identification assistance.
What is the difference between the ED5200 and ED5400 Series?
ED5200 is the standard series for typical commercial and institutional applications -- school corridors, office building stairwells, and interior fire doors. ED5400 is the heavy-duty series specified for primary building entries, gymnasium exits, and other high-traffic or high-abuse applications where the standard series would show accelerated wear. Both carry the same UL 305 and UL 10C listings.
