RCI Electromagnetic Locks: A Commercial-Grade Second-Tier Option

RCI (Rutherford Controls) manufactures UL-listed electromagnetic locks for commercial access control applications. The 8 Series covers standard single-door interior applications in 600 and 1200 lb configurations. RCI is the specification when Securitron is over-specified for the project budget or when procurement policy drives toward a second-tier brand. Performance is comparable at standard indoor applications. For outdoor or high-abuse applications, Securitron M62 or M82B is the more field-tested choice.

RCI Electric Switches and Access Control Components

RCI also manufactures a range of electric switches, push buttons, and access control accessories that complement their electromagnetic lock line. For projects specifying RCI maglocks throughout, RCI electric switches and accessories provide a single-manufacturer solution for the access control hardware layer. Pair with a properly sized access control power supply RCI 600 lb maglocks draw approximately 500mA at 12VDC.
