ANSI F82 Entrance/Office Function Explained

Function code F82 is the standard ANSI entrance/office function and one of the highest-volume specifications in the commercial cylindrical category. The latch retracts by either lever unless the outside lever is locked by pushing the push button in the inside lever. The push button is released by key from outside or by turning the inside lever. Closing the door does not unlock the outside lever or release the button (this is the difference between F82 and F109; F82 stays locked once locked, while F109 auto-unlocks when the inside button is in standard position). The key in the outside lever retracts the latch when the outside lever is locked and simultaneously releases the inside push button. The inside lever is always free for unobstructed egress. Specify F82 on private offices, faculty offices, exam rooms, treatment rooms, conference rooms, hospital admin offices, courthouse chambers, and any commercial opening that needs keyed entry from outside, push-button locking from inside, and code-compliant always-free interior egress.
