About this item
The Trimco KM050 is a 6" x 34" commercial door mop plate built for the bottom section of high-traffic doors in schools, hospitals, offices, government buildings, and retail facilities. Mop plates are specified where the lower portion of a door faces repeated impact from janitorial equipment, wet mops, and cart wheels, but the height requirement is 6" or less. If you need taller protection, that's a kick plate. The KM050 is the correct part when the spec calls for a mop plate in the standard .050" material thickness at 6" height.
Construction and Material
The KM050 is manufactured in the United States from heavy-duty .050" stainless steel as standard. That's 18-gauge material, which handles the regular impact and abrasion of commercial janitorial use without denting, warping, or losing its finish. Trimco also offers the same mop plate in brass and bronze at the same gauge, and in alternative thicknesses including .038", .062", and .125" for projects with specific spec requirements. If your door schedule calls out a different gauge or material, call to confirm the correct configuration before ordering.
Pencil Bevel, Mounting Holes, and Hardware
All four edges carry a pencil bevel as standard. That's a narrow, clean bevel consistent with a #2 pencil width, which gives the plate a finished appearance against the door face without protruding. The KM050 ships with 14 pre-drilled mounting holes positioned 3/8" from the edge and evenly spaced approximately 5" to 6" apart, so the plate sits flush and tight against the door surface. Sixteen screws are included in the box: #6 x 1/2" truss head Phillips screws undercut for a low profile against the plate. Two extras are in every pack, which saves a trip back to the truck on installation day.
Trimco uses damage-resistant packaging that keeps fasteners separated from the plate, so the stainless finish arrives at the job site clean and scratch-free.
Options Available on This Model
The standard mop plate ships with a pencil bevel on all four edges. For projects requiring a heavier bevel, countersinking of the mounting holes, UL labeling, or custom cutouts around hardware, those configurations are available. Non-standard widths and custom sizes are also produced by Trimco for projects where 34" doesn't match the door width.
Where Trimco Mop Plates and Kick Plates Are Specified
Trimco is one of the most widely specified protection plate brands in commercial construction. Their Trimco kick plates and mop plates appear on door schedules across institutional, healthcare, education, hospitality, and government projects. The KM050 specifically covers the mop plate function, which is the lower 6" band of door protection in high-janitorial-use environments. It's the same Trimco quality found in their K0050 kick plates, built to the same manufacturing standards, just dimensioned for the mop plate application.
The 630 Satin Stainless Steel finish is standard and coordinates with most commercial hardware schedules. Other finishes are available on request.
