About this item
The Accentra AU541F is the nightlatch function rose lever trim for Yale and Accentra panic devices - fitted with the Augusta lever style on a standard rose mounting plate. If you searched "541f" - this is the product. Accentra is the current brand name for Yale commercial hardware under ASSA ABLOY. The AU541F model number and device compatibility carry forward directly from the Yale catalog.
541F Decoded: Every Character in the Model Number
No competing product page decodes this model string. Here is what each element means:
AU - Augusta lever. The lever design prefix identifies the specific lever geometry. AU = Augusta, the traditional gently curved institutional lever. MO = Monroe, the contemporary swept profile. PB = Pacific Beach, the straight minimal profile. All three lever designs are available on the 541F function. This listing is the AU (Augusta) version - the most widely specified lever in commercial hardware schedules.
541F - This is the 540F Series trim in ANSI function 03 (nightlatch). The 540 series is the rose trim line for exit device lever trim - a smaller format rose plate behind the lever rather than a full escutcheon plate. Function 03 is nightlatch: key from outside retracts the latch; inside lever always free. The F designation across all exit device trim is the fire-listed variant.
The distinction between the 540F series (rose trim) and the 620F/626F/628F escutcheon series is the plate format. Rose trim has a compact circular or square rose surrounding only the lever base. Escutcheon trim has a full rectangular plate covering a large area of the door face. The 540F rose trim is the lower-profile option, widely specified in commercial interiors where a clean, minimal outside appearance is preferred.
What Nightlatch Function Means on Exit Device Trim
Nightlatch is ANSI function 03 for exit device outside trim - and it works differently from the nightlatch pull trim (632F). The AU541F is a lever-format nightlatch, not a pull-format nightlatch.
With the AU541F installed, the outside face of the door has a full lever handle. Turning the lever from outside does not retract the latch - the lever is the operating handle only when the cylinder key is used. Inserting and turning the key from outside retracts the latch, allowing entry. Without a key, the lever does not provide entry.
Inside the door, the exit device crossbar retracts the latch for egress in the normal panic hardware operation. Inside egress is always free. The trim function controls outside access only.
This is the correct trim specification for openings that require key-controlled outside access combined with the architectural appearance of a lever handle rather than a pull bar or thumbpiece. Office entrance doors, corridor access points, and institutional entries where a lever grip is preferred over a pull all use nightlatch lever trim.
Compatible Exit Device Series: 6100 and 7100
The AU541F is designed for the Accentra/Yale 6100 and 7100 Series exit devices. These are the two wide-stile rim and multi-point exit device families in the Yale line. The trim thrubolts directly to the exit device body - the thrubolt attachment means the trim's retention strength is tied to the exit device rather than surface-mounted independently.
For other device series (2100, 1500), different trim models apply - the 540F rose trim family is specifically engineered for the 6100 and 7100 Series door and device geometry. Confirm your exit device series before ordering trim.
Cylinder Included: What Ships and What Options Are Available
The AU541F ships with a cylindrical type cylinder included and two keys. Key-in-lever cylinder format is standard - the cylinder mounts in the lever hub, not in a separate escutcheon plate hole. This is the standard configuration.
Additional cylinder configurations available across the 540F trim line:
LC suffix (AU541F LC) - Less cylinder. Trim ships without cylinder. Order when specifying a cylinder from your existing key system separately.
B prefix (BAU541F) - SFIC prep. Trim accepts Small Format Interchangeable Core (BEST-format). Core ordered separately.
M prefix (MAU541F) - Medeco/ASSA Large Format IC prep. Augusta lever only, 6-pin.
S prefix (SAU541F) - Schlage standard cylinder format.
SI prefix (SI-AU541F) - Schlage Large Format Interchangeable Core prep.
1210 suffix (AU541F-1210) - LFIC (Large Format Interchangeable Core). Used when the facility runs Yale/Schlage LFIC throughout the building and needs the same IC format on the exit device outside trim as on the locksets.
541F vs 546F and 548F: The 540F Series Function Matrix
The 540F rose trim series covers multiple outside access functions on the same rose plate format:
541F - Nightlatch (ANSI F03): key outside retracts latch, lever does not operate without key. This listing.
546F - Classroom/Storeroom (ANSI F05/F06): cylinder controls whether lever can retract latch from outside. Key toggles locked/unlocked state.
548F - Passage (ANSI F01): outside lever always retracts latch, no key required. Free access at all times from outside.
Select the function based on the access control requirement at the opening. Nightlatch (541F) requires a key for every entry. Classroom (546F) allows toggling between free access and key-required. Passage (548F) provides free access always.
Projection and Physical Specifications
The AU541F lever projects 2-5/8 inches (61mm) from the door face. Standard door thickness is 1-3/4 inches. For doors through 2-1/4 inches or shim-mounted exit devices, specify door thickness at order. ANSI/BHMA A156.3, Grade 1 certified. 3-year limited warranty. Yale and Accentra exit device trim is designed and manufactured under a certified ISO 9001 quality system.
