About this item
The Accentra AU546F is a classroom-style lever trim designed to work with Accentra’s 7000 and 6100 Series exit devices. It features a 540F rose, and the “AU” refers to the Augusta lever design. The "546F" tells you the trim family (540F rose trim) and function (classroom, ANSI 08): key from outside controls the lever. Cylinders are included. This is not a standalone lockset-it's the outside trim that attaches to your Accentra 7100 or 6100 rim exit device to provide keyed outside access.
This is an ASSA ABLOY product, previously marketed under the Yale brand. Yale exit hardware now carries the Accentra name-the product, specifications, and installation hardware are unchanged. American Locksets is an authorized Accentra dealer.
What Classroom Function Means on an Exit Device Trim
Standard exit device trims with a passage lever (ANSI Function 14) allow outside lever operation at all times-push the bar to exit, use the outside lever to enter, no key needed. That's fine for lobbies and corridors.
Classroom function (ANSI 08) changes that entirely. The outside lever is normally locked. A key must be inserted and turned from outside to retract the latchbolt and allow entry. The inside touchbar remains unaffected-anyone inside can still push and exit freely at any time, regardless of the outside lever state.
This is the function specified for classroom doors under most building codes and security best practices. Teachers can lock the outside lever with a key from inside the hallway, controlling entry without any additional hardware or electronic system. The AU546F delivers that function on a 7000 or 6100 Series rim device.
Note: the AU546F also converts to storeroom function (ANSI 09) with a single trim modification at installation-the outside lever becomes permanently rigid, key required every time for entry. This makes the AU546F dual-function trim without ordering a separate part.
Compatible Devices and What Won't Work
The AU546F 540F rose trim is designed for: Accentra 7100 Series rim exit devices and Accentra 6100ED Series wide stile rim exit devices.
It is not recommended for vertical rod exit devices. The 540F rose trim mounts directly to the door face and through-bolts into the device body-the geometry is specific to rim type devices. If your opening has a 7150 surface vertical rod or concealed vertical rod device, the AU546F is not the right trim. You'd need the appropriate VR trim for those applications.
Ordering: AU546F vs B-AU546F
The standard AU546F ships with a conventional cylindrical type cylinder (key-in-knob/key-in-lever format) included. The cylinder accepts standard keyways-most commonly Schlage C-and can be master keyed or grand master keyed to existing systems.
The B-AU546F is the SFIC variant: the cylinder housing accepts a Small Format Interchangeable Core (BEST, Falcon, Arrow compatible) instead of a conventional cylinder. If your facility runs a BEST or Arrow IC key system, specify the B-AU546F to maintain core compatibility.
