About this item
The Accentra AU628F, also known as the Yale AU628F, is a passage function exit device trim with an Augusta lever designed to pair with Accentra and Yale exit devices across the 7000, 6000, 2100, 1800, and 1500 series. It is sold under the Accentra brand, which is the current ASSA ABLOY name for what was previously Yale Commercial Hardware. If you have searched for Yale exit device trim or Yale au628 trim and landed here, this is the correct product. The trim mounts on the outside of the door face via through-bolt construction to the exit device body, giving the outside of the door a lever handle while the exit device handles egress from inside.
What Passage Function Means and When to Use AU628F
The AU628F operates under ANSI Function 14, which is the passage function. The outside lever is always active. No key is required, no cylinder is included, and the lever always retracts the latchbolt from the outside. This trim is the right choice for any opening where you want free entry from the outside, such as retail entrances, lobby doors, building entries during business hours, or any door where restricting outside access is not required. If you need a keyed outside entry, you want the 627F (storeroom, key retracts latch) or the 626F (classroom or storeroom, key locks and unlocks the outside lever). Ordering the wrong trim function is the most common specification error on exit device trim, and it cannot be corrected in the field.
Accentra Yale 628F Trim Series: Function Comparison
The 628F designation identifies the trim plate and escutcheon style. The prefix letter changes the function. AU628F is passage, always unlocked. MO628F uses the Monroe lever in the same escutcheon. PB628F uses the Pacific Beach lever design. The AU prefix identifies the Augusta lever, which is one of three standard lever designs Accentra offers across the 6xF trim series alongside Monroe and Pacific Beach. All share the same escutcheon dimensions and mounting, so the lever design choice is architectural rather than functional.
Compatible Exit Device Series
The AU628F is compatible with the following Accentra and Yale exit device series: 7100, 7110, 7120, 7150, and 7160 (7000 Series rim and vertical rod), 6100 and 6170 (6000 Series rim and surface vertical rod), 2100 (rim exit device), 1800, and 1500 series. For rim and vertical rod devices, the universal lifter assembly number 60-1500-0671-000 connects the trim to any 620 or 630 series active trim. For mortise devices, the correct trim configuration must be specified at the time of order.
Construction
The escutcheon is solid forged and cast construction. Trim through-bolts directly to the exit device body for strength that is significantly greater than surface-mounted trim. Beveled sides on the escutcheon improve attack resistance against forced entry attempts. The lever design is ADA compliant in operation and projection.
