About this item
The Accentra KRM200-600 is the keyed removable steel mullion from Accentra (formerly Yale), supplied in the 7-foot length with a prime coat finish ready for field painting. If you've been searching for "yale krm200," "krm200 mullion," or "keyed removable mullion," this is the product. Yale commercial hardware has been rebranded as Accentra, an ASSA ABLOY brand. The KRM200 part number, installation footprint, and compatible exit device series have not changed.
What a Removable Mullion Does
On a pair of double doors fitted with rim or surface vertical rod exit devices, the mullion is the vertical steel post that stands between the two doors when they're in the closed and latched position. Each door's exit device latches into the mullion rather than the door frame, which allows the pair to function as two independent single doors during normal use. When a full-width opening is needed, the mullion is removed, giving you the full clear opening from jamb to jamb without any center post obstruction. This is specified for building entries that need to accommodate wide loads, equipment moves, or emergency access situations.
KRM200 vs M200: Why "Keyed" Matters
The KRM200 is the keyed version. A mortise cylinder controls whether the mullion can be removed. Turning the correct key releases the locking mechanism, allowing the mullion to be lifted free of its top and bottom brackets. Without the key, the mullion cannot be removed regardless of how much force is applied to it.
The M200 is the non-keyed version, removed using a thumbturn or other non-key method. The KRM200 is specified on applications where only authorized personnel should be able to open the full width of the double door opening. Loading docks, controlled entries, and secured facility main entrances are common installations.
Auto-Relock on Reinstallation
When the KRM200 is reinstalled into its brackets, it automatically relocks without requiring the cylinder key. The locking mechanism engages mechanically when the mullion seats into position. The key is only needed to release and remove the mullion, not to secure it back in place. This prevents personnel from accidentally leaving the mullion unlocked after reinstalling it.
Compatible Exit Device Series
The KRM200 is designed for use with Accentra (Yale) 1500, 1800, 2100, 6000 (6100ED wide stile), and 7100 Series exit devices. These are the rim and surface vertical rod device lines where the exit device latch bolt engages the mullion strike rather than the door frame. Confirm your exit device series before ordering.
Cylinder, Length, and Finish
The KRM200 ships without a cylinder. A mortise cylinder is required and sold separately. Compatible cylinders include the 2196-112-1765.75 and 2153-118-1765.312 mortise cylinder formats. A standard 1-1/4" length mortise cylinder works for most installations.
The 7-foot unit ships at approximately 7'2" overall. The net mullion length should be set approximately 3/4" shorter than your door opening height, measured from the underside of the door stop to finished floor. The mullion can be field cut to fit. For openings over approximately 7'11", specify the 8-foot KRM200 series.
The 600/USP finish designation is prime coat, meaning the mullion ships with a factory primer applied and is ready for field painting to match your door finish. It is not a finished architectural finish. The unit weighs approximately 33 lbs.
Fire-Rated Variants
The standard KRM200 is panic rated and non-fire rated. The KRM200F is 1-1/2-hour fire rated. The KRM200FWS is 3-hour fire rated and hurricane certified. Specify the correct variant for your door's fire rating label before ordering.
