ML2010 Function: ANSI F01 Passage or Closet

ANSI Function F01 means both levers operate freely from both sides at all times. There is no locked state, no key cylinder, no push button. The latch bolt is the only mechanical element in operation, and it retracts whenever either lever is turned. This is the specification for doors that need to latch shut without any security requirement: interior hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, supply areas, and mechanical rooms where occupancy control is not needed. If any form of locking is required on the opening, the ML2010 passage function is not the correct specification.

Why Specify ML2000 Series Over a Grade 2 Cylindrical Lock for Passage

On a passage-only opening, a Grade 2 cylindrical lever is less expensive. The ML2010 gets specified when the rest of the door schedule runs ML2000 mortise locks and consistency in lock body, trim style, and finish across a building matters to the specifier. A single mortise lock prep serves every function in the ML2000 lineup. If a passage door later needs to be upgraded to an entrance, classroom, or storeroom function, the lock body stays in the door and only the function change is made. That flexibility is the operational argument for specifying a mortise lock on a passage opening rather than mixing cylindrical and mortise hardware across a building.

Patented Quick Reversible Latchbolt
