The Corbin Russwin ML2054 is a Grade 1 commercial mortise lock built for doors that need controlled outside access with guaranteed free egress inside. It uses ANSI Function F04: the outside lever is locked or unlocked by key or thumbturn, the latchbolt retracts by key when the outside grip is locked, and the inside lever is always free regardless of position. The auxiliary latch automatically deadlocks the latchbolt the moment the door closes, which eliminates loiding without a second deadbolt. This is the configuration that shows up on spec sheets for office suites, administrative wings, government buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and hotels.

It's an ASSA ABLOY manufactured product. The ML2000 series has logged over 14.5 million cycles in UL testing (Verification ID V875753), well past the standard Grade 1 threshold. It meets ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Grade 1 requirements and carries a UL/ULC listing for A-label single and pair fire-rated doors up to a 3-hour rating. California Title 19 compliant lever designs are available.

Patented Quick Reversible Feature

The ML2054 uses Corbin Russwin's patented Quick Reversible latchbolt design. You can re-hand the lock at the job site without disassembling the lockcase. That's not standard on most mortise locks, and it matters on larger projects where door swing direction changes late in the schedule. It's also multi-function capable, which means the same lockbody can be adapted to related ANSI functions without a full hardware swap.

Construction That Matches the Warranty

The lockcase is heavy-gauge chrome-plated steel measuring 5-7/8" by 4" by 15/16". The front plate is heavy-gauge steel at 8" by 1-1/4", accommodating both flat doors and doors beveled 1/8" in 2". An armored front in wrought brass, bronze, or stainless steel is available and attached by machine screws directly to the lockcase front. The latchbolt is a two-piece mechanical design with an anti-friction insert at 5/8" by 1" with a 3/4" throw. The deadbolt is one-piece hardened stainless steel at 19/32" by 1-1/4" with a 1" throw. Lever hubs are steel and thru-bolted for proper alignment and anti-rotation security under repeated use.

Cylinder and Keying Options

The standard cylinder is brass with a 6-pin tumbler and L4 keyway. A 7-pin cylinder and interchangeable core (IC) cylinder are both available options. The ML2054 is compatible with Corbin Russwin's Access 3® and Pyramid high-security key control systems. It also accepts cylinders from most other manufacturers if an existing keying infrastructure is already in place. Standard keying includes master keying and construction master keying.

Trim, Finishes, and Lever Designs

The ML2054 is available across a wide range of lever designs including Lustra, Regis, Citation, Newport, Armstrong, Dirke, Essex, and Princeton, with additional options from the Vineyard and Muséo designer collections. Sixteen standard finishes cover bright and satin options in brass, bronze, chrome, and stainless steel. Lever center-to-cylinder center spacing is 3-5/8". Lever center-to-thumbturn center spacing is 2-7/16". Door thickness is 1-3/4" standard and the backset is 2-3/4" only.

For applications requiring access control integration, electrified EcoFlex versions of the ML2000 series are available and accept card reader trim without additional door modifications.
