Detex 08BN 689/693 Entry Lever Trim - Aluminum/Black Painted

The Detex 08BN adds outside key-controlled lever access to Detex Value Series exit devices. Function 08 means entrance by lever: a key from the outside cylinder locks or unlocks the outside lever. When unlocked, the outside lever operates the latch freely for entry. When locked, the lever is rigid and a key is required. Inside, the exit device push bar always allows free egress regardless of the outside lever state. The 08BN ships in S lever style, with a cover plate that bridges the standard 161 door prep, in either Aluminum (finish 689) or Black Painted (finish 693) for color coordination with the exit device body and door finish.

The cylinder is not included with the 08BN. It must be ordered separately. Detex Function 08: Entry Lever Operation

Function 08 uses a key to toggle the outside lever between locked and unlocked states. One key turn from outside locks the lever rigid. A second key turn unlocks it. When unlocked, the outside lever retracts the exit device latch for free corridor entry. When locked, entry requires a key each time.

This is the correct outside trim specification for exit device doors where the outside lever needs to be lockable by staff during off-hours or security events, while remaining operable by key-holding personnel entering from outside at any time. Inside egress via the push bar is always unrestricted.

Detex BN Trim Family: All Function Options

The BN lever trim series covers the full function range for Detex Value Series outside access. The 02A and 02AN are dummy pull trims: lever provides a pull handle only, no key, no latch operation. The 03P and 03PN are pull plates without lever for pull-only outside access. The 08BN (this product) is the entry function: key locks and unlocks the outside lever. The 09BN is the storeroom function: outside lever always rigid, key retracts latch from outside each time. The 14BN is the passage function: outside lever always free, no key required.

Select the function based on the security requirement of the opening. If the exit device door needs no outside entry control, use 14BN (passage) or a pull trim. If it needs key-controlled lockout with free entry when unlocked, use 08BN (entry). If it needs key entry every time with the lever always rigid, use 09BN (storeroom).
