About this item
The Dormakaba 7300 Series is the compact commercial door closer line from Dormakaba, designed to fit tighter header clearances and narrower top rails than full-body closers while still delivering ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 1 performance. The 7305 is the size 5 fixed spring configuration with an ARP (Adjustable Regular/Parallel) arm, covering large and heavy single doors where a fixed spring setting is the correct specification rather than an adjustable spring range.
Fixed spring means the spring force is set at the factory for size 5 and cannot be adjusted in the field. Size 5 is the correct specification for larger commercial door applications where the door weight and width require more closing force than a size 3 or 4 closer provides, and where a contractor or facilities manager doesn't need to adjust the spring after installation. For applications where spring sizing needs field adjustability, the Dormakaba 7414 (adjustable sizes 1-4) or 7436 (adjustable sizes 3-6) covers that requirement instead. ARP Arm: Regular and Parallel in One
The ARP arm designation means the arm is adjustable between regular and parallel configurations. In regular arm mounting, the closer body mounts on the door face and the arm connects to the frame at a point near the hinge side. In parallel arm mounting, the arm runs parallel to the door face and connects to a shoe on the frame header, keeping the closer body protected behind the door face when the door is open. The 7305 ARP allows the installer to choose the mounting configuration in the field without ordering a different arm, reducing pre-order planning requirements on projects where mounting conditions are confirmed on site.
Dormakaba 7305 ARP Technical Specifications

Speed Controls and Backcheck
The 7305 ARP has two independent speed control valves. The sweep speed valve controls how quickly the door travels from the open position to approximately 10 degrees before closed. The latch speed valve controls the final closing action to engage the latch. Adjusting latch speed separately from sweep speed allows the door to close slowly through the main arc and still latch positively without slamming. Both valves are "noncritical" valves, meaning they maintain consistent performance across temperature ranges without requiring seasonal readjustment.
The adjustable backcheck is factory-installed and standard on every 7305. Backcheck provides hydraulic resistance when the door is opened quickly or forcefully, protecting the door, frame, closer arm, and adjacent wall from impact damage. The resistance level is adjustable via the backcheck valve.
7305 vs. 7304 and 7303
The 7300 Series comes in fixed spring sizes 3, 4, and 5. The 7303 (size 3) suits lighter interior doors. The 7304 (size 4) is the mid-range specification for medium commercial doors. The 7305 (size 5) is for larger, heavier openings that need more spring force. All three use the same compact 7300 body, the same ARP arm, and the same 25-year warranty.
