Falcon 912L-NL Night Latch Lever Trim - Dane

The Falcon 912L-NL is the night latch outside lever trim for Falcon 900 Series medium duty commercial exit devices. The Dane lever is the specific lever style on this SKU: a clean commercial profile that returns to within standard clearance of the door face. The night latch function (NL) means the outside lever is key-controlled: one key turn locks the lever rigid, another key turn unlocks it and allows the lever to retract the latch for entry. Key is removable only when the lever is in the locked position, so there's no risk of leaving the key in the cylinder mid-operation.

This is the medium duty commercial version of the night latch exit trim. If the exit device is a Falcon 900 Series (F19 Monarch, 1590 Rim, or compatible series), the 912L-NL is the correct trim specification. If the exit device is a Falcon 24 Series heavy-duty narrow stile device, the 712L-NL-R/V (a different trim series we carry separately) is the correct specification. Night Latch vs. Entry: The Key Functional Difference

Both NL (Night Latch) and standard entry trims use a key to control the outside lever. The distinction is in the toggle behavior. Night latch lets the key toggle between locked and unlocked states: one turn locks, the next turn unlocks, and the door stays in whatever state the last key operation left it. This is ideal for commercial buildings that want the door locked after hours and open during business hours without staff needing to touch the trim on the way out each time.

The entry function (like the 912L-BE we carry) uses the cylinder differently, depending on whether it's the blank escutcheon variant or a standard entry trim. Night latch is the far more common specification on commercial exit devices outside trim for standard-duty commercial entrance doors.

Cylinder Option Note

The Ilco Mortise Cylinder option adds a mechanical cylinder to the 912L-NL trim. Without the cylinder, the night latch function is not operational: there's nothing to lock or unlock the lever. If this trim is for a standard keyed entry application (someone turning a key from outside to lock or unlock the door), order with the Ilco cylinder. If the trim is for an electrically controlled application where the exit device's electric option controls the lever state, the cylinder may not be required. Confirm the access control method before selecting the cylinder option.

912L-NL vs. 712L-NL-R/V: Same Function, Different Device Compatibility

Both are night latch lever trims. The 912L-NL fits Falcon 900 Series devices. The 712L-NL-R/V fits Falcon 24 Series devices. They are not interchangeable. Ordering the wrong trim for the installed device is the most common ordering error on exit devices outside trim. Check the model number on the installed exit device before ordering.
