About this item
The Ives 571 is the standard all-purpose coat and hat hook from Ives Builders Hardware in a traditional hook profile. Base dimensions are 1-3/4 inches high by 1-1/4 inches wide. Projection is 3 inches from the wall. It installs on the back of a door, on a wall, or inside a cabinet with two screws through the base. Cast brass for brass and bronze finish variants. Cast aluminum for aluminum finish variants. Epoxy-coated aluminum for the Black and White finish variants. Three body materials, seventeen total finish options, ANSI/BHMA A156.16 certified.
The 571 is the smallest hook in the Ives coat hook series and the most widely specified for single-door applications: restroom doors, office back doors, changing room doors, hotel guest room doors, and anywhere a simple coat or hat hook is needed without the weight capacity or projection of a larger unit. For larger hooks with more projection or a heavier-duty profile, the Ives 572, 574, and 575 are progressively larger and more substantial within the same series. Three Body Materials
The 571 is available in three distinct base material types, which determines both the finish options available and the structural weight of the hook.
Cast brass is the premium material option. Brass variants (prefix B) are the heaviest and most durable, suited for commercial applications where finish longevity and corrosion resistance matter. Cast brass takes plated finishes cleanly and holds them longer than aluminum base.
Cast aluminum is the standard material. Aluminum variants (prefix A) are lighter than brass and available in a broader range of decorative finishes including Aged Bronze and Bright Nickel. Aluminum is appropriate for interior applications where weight isn't a daily concern.
Epoxy-coated aluminum covers the A-BLK (Black) and A-W (White) finishes. These are aluminum bodies with a baked epoxy coating that provides a uniform, non-metallic finish for applications where a black or white hook matches a painted or powder-coated door or wall surface.

571A vs 571B: Aluminum vs Brass
The "571A" prefix identifies all aluminum body variants (571A92, 571A BLK, 571AW, 571A3, etc.). The "571B" prefix identifies all brass body variants (571B3, 571B4, 571B10B, etc.). If finish matching is the priority and the specific finish is available in both materials, the brass variant provides better long-term finish durability. If cost is the priority and the door or wall surface is interior protected from moisture, the aluminum variant delivers the same traditional hook profile at a lower cost.
