The Kaba Mas CDX-10 is the X-10 high security electromechanical combination lock mounted on a surface deadbolt base plate, configured for pedestrian door applications. This is not a safe lock. It's a door lock built to Federal Specification FF-L-2740B - the U.S. government standard for high security combination locks - installed on the inside face of a door and used wherever a combination lock with federal certification and hardened attack resistance is required on a pedestrian entry.

The base plate serves two functions. First, it holds the bolt in the retracted position when the door needs to remain open, preventing the bolt from accidentally extending while the door is ajar. Second, a knob on the base plate retracts the bolt mechanically from the inside for egress without requiring a combination. The CDX-10 assembly is manufactured per Federal Specification FF-L-2890A. PowerStar Self-Powered Technology

The CDX-10 runs on Kaba Mas's PowerStar rotational electromechanical technology. Turning the dial generates the electrical power needed to operate the lock. No batteries. No external power connection. No power failure risk. The same PowerStar "Green" technology found in Dormakaba PowerPlex commercial lever locks - proven in commercial hardware at high cycle rates - powers the X-10 mechanism and LCD display without any external power source.

Three Combination Modes

Single mode provides 1 million possible combinations. One authorized user, one combination.

Dual mode provides 500 billion possible combinations. Two separate combination holders are required to open the lock. Neither combination alone opens it. This is the two-person integrity (TPI) configuration required in classified and high-security environments where no single individual should have unilateral access.

Supervisor/Subordinate mode provides 2 million combinations and allows a supervisor combination to operate the lock independently while the subordinate combination remains active for routine access.

Attack Resistance and Security Features

Manipulation resistance meets all requirements of FF-L-2740B and resists opening through manipulation for 20 man-hours. Wrong-try penalty: 10 to 14 errors triggers a 3-minute timeout. 15 or more errors triggers a 4-minute timeout. The error count and penalty timer reset only after a valid combination is entered.

The audit trail records all openings in non-resettable memory. Unsuccessful attempt logging activates after three incorrect combination entries and clears only after a correct opening. The True Scramble random number view prevents observation of combination patterns from the dial face position.

The lock is rated to 250 KV electrical discharge on the dial and meets FF-L-2740B specifications for simulation of a high-altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse. Vibration: MIL-STD-810. Shock: MIL-STD-901. Case and bolt strength: 600 pounds in two directions.
