About this item

The Kaba MAS CDX-10 (521025/521032) is a complete high-security pedestrian door deadbolt assembly consisting of the X-10 electromechanical combination lock (part 521025) mounted on a non-drill-resistant deadbolt base plate with Strike Type 3 hardware (part 521032). Strike Type 3 is configured for in-swing doors: the strike mounts on the inside wall, not into the door frame, and is the most commonly specified configuration.

The X-10 lock is self-powered by dormakaba's "Green" PowerStar Technology. Rotating the dial generates the power to operate the lock. No battery, no external power connection, no battery failure concern. It meets Federal Specification FF-L-2740B and is GSA (General Services Administration) approved as a Style 1 lock for use on GSA-approved Class 5 and Class 6 filing cabinets and Class 5 Security Vault Doors.

American Locksets is an authorized dormakaba dealer.

What the CDX-10 Assembly Consists Of

The CDX-10 (Combination Door Lock X-10) is not just the lock body. It's a complete door hardware package:

The X-10 lock (521025) is the electromechanical combination lock that provides the authentication and access control. The base plate (521032) is surface-mounted to the inside face of the door. The base plate serves two functions: it latches the bolt in the retracted position so the bolt cannot be inadvertently extended, and the knob on the base plate retracts the bolt for egress from the secure side.

The lock case includes a through-case mounting feature for simplified installation and improved protection of internal electronics. A tamper-evident security seal on the lock case provides visible confirmation if the lock has been accessed by unauthorized personnel.

X-10 Combination and Security Features

Combination capacity: Single user, 1 million combinations. Dual user, 500 billion combinations. Supervisor/Subordinate configuration, 2 million combinations.

Direct Dial operation: No need to clear the lock before entering the combination. Simply stop turning the dial to disengage, and the lock will automatically reset 40 seconds after dialing stops.

LCD display: Limited-view liquid crystal display with visual controls for easy, accurate dialing. Units manufactured after March 25, 2014 include a backlit LCD as standard, illuminating automatically with dial rotation for use in low-light or unlit storage areas. The backlit display version uses the same part numbers and carries the same GSA approval.

Memory: Non-volatile. Combination data is retained without power. Random number view with True Scramble prevents prediction of displayed numbers.

Audit trail: Records all openings with a non-re-settable record. Unsuccessful attempts are logged after three consecutive incorrect combination entries and reset after a correct opening.

Compliance Testing and Security Performance

The X-10 is the US Government's highest security standard for electromechanical locks under FF-L-2740B. Testing compliance covers:

Salt spray: Operational after 72 hours of continuous exposure. Humidity: Operational after 10 days at 140°F and 98% relative humidity. Thermal stress: Operational after 7 days in a stress chamber at 194°F per UL 768. Vibration: MIL-STD-810. Shock: MIL-STD-901. Electrical discharge: 250KV on dial. Electromagnetic pulse: Meets FF-L-2740B specification for high-altitude nuclear blast simulation. Case and bolt strength: 600 pounds in two directions.

Selecting the Right CDX-10 Configuration

Strike Type 3 (521032, this product): In-swing doors. Strike mounts on the inside wall. Most common specification.

Strike Type 2 (521031): Out-swing doors.

Strike Type 9 (521033): Alternate application.

Drill-resistant hard plate variants (521022 = Type 3, etc.) provide additional hardened steel protection against drilling attacks on the base plate. The 521032 in this listing uses a non-drill-resistant plate.
