Kaba Mas X-10: The Only Style 1 FF-L-2740B Approved Lock

Federal Specification FF-L-2740B is the U.S. Government's highest security standard for electro-mechanical combination locks used on security containers and vault doors. Revision B of this specification defines two distinct lock styles. Style 1 requires the lock to be entirely self-powered, with no external power source or batteries. Style 2 allows battery-powered operation. The X-10 is the only lock approved for Style 1 applications. Style 1 and Style 2 locks are not equivalent and cannot be substituted for each other on Style 1-specified containers and doors.

The X-10 uses Kaba Mas's proprietary PowerStar self-powered technology. Rotating the dial generates the power required to operate the lock, display the LCD, drive the motor, and log the audit event. No batteries, no external power connection, and no scheduled power-related maintenance.
