About this item
The LCN 8310-3853TWS is the complete wireless ADA push pad kit for wall surface mounting. Someone with a disability approaches the door, presses the large 4-3/4" square stainless steel touch plate, and the automatic door operator swings the door open. No wires run from the push pad to the control box. The transmitter inside the back box sends a radio signal to a receiver at the control box the moment the button is pressed. The control box receives the signal and activates the pneumatic or electric door operator.
The T in 3853TWS stands for Transmitter: the 8310-844 single-channel wireless transmitter is included in this kit with a 9V battery already inside. The W is Wireless. The S is Surface Mount, meaning the kit includes a surface back box (8310-867S) that mounts directly on the wall face rather than requiring a recessed pocket in the wall.
One component does NOT come in this kit: the 8310-865 receiver. That receiver must be ordered separately and installed near the control box. It picks up the radio signal from the transmitter, converts it to the Normally Open contact input that the LCN 7981 or 7982 control box requires, and triggers the operator. Without the receiver, the wireless system cannot function. Always order the 8310-865 receiver alongside this kit if it is not already part of the installation. What Comes in the Kit
The 8310-3853TWS ships with four components.
The 8310-853T is the actuator itself: stainless steel touch plate, 4-3/4" (121mm) square, engraved blue-filled handicap symbol, "Push to Open" text engraved on the plate. Heavy industrial grade components rated for vandal-resistant mounting and weather-resistant switch operation.
The 8310-867S is the rugged plastic surface mount back box, 4-3/4" square. The actuator plate mounts to the front of this box, which mounts to the wall surface.
The 8310-801 is the plastic weather ring, 4-3/4" square. This provides additional weather sealing around the perimeter of the actuator assembly. Optional in function but standard in this kit, and can be used with any 4-3/4" square actuator in the 8310 Series.
The 8310-844 is the wireless transmitter, single channel, with 9V battery included. This is the radio component that sends the activation signal to the 8310-865 receiver.
No-Wire Installation: Why Wireless Matters
On new construction, running conduit from the ADA push pad location to the control box is straightforward. On retrofit projects, that same conduit run means opening finished walls and ceilings, which is expensive and disruptive. The 8310-3853TWS eliminates that conduit run entirely. The push pad goes on the wall, the battery goes in the transmitter, and only the receiver near the control box needs a wired connection. Retrofitting an automatic door operator system into an existing building becomes significantly faster and less expensive with wireless actuators.

Flush Mount vs Surface Mount: TWF vs TWS
The 8310-3853TWF is the same wireless transmitter kit in a flush mount configuration. The back box recesses into the wall for a flat, finished appearance. The 8310-3853TWS (this product) uses a surface mount back box that sits proud of the wall. Surface mount is faster to install and requires no wall cutout. Flush mount requires a wall pocket cut to depth but produces a cleaner final appearance. Choose TWS for speed and retrofit simplicity; choose TWF when the finished aesthetic requires the actuator to sit flush with the wall surface.
