About this item
The Locknetics NC450 is a no-cut electric strike. NC stands for No Cut. The frame doesn't get modified. No sawing, no chiseling, no routing out the frame to fit a new strike pocket. The NC450 mounts directly over the existing door frame using the installed hardware and a vertical alignment feature that lets you adjust the strike body up or down to match the latch bolt centerline on the installed cylindrical lockset. Align, install, wire, done.
This makes the NC450 the correct electric strike for retrofit projects where cutting the frame isn't practical, isn't permitted, or isn't worth the labor. A rental property where the landlord wants electronic access but doesn't want frame modification. An office where the tenant isn't authorized to alter the door frame. A historic building where the frame material or finish can't be disturbed. An existing installation where the lockset is working fine and the goal is simply to add electronic access control without a significant frame preparation job. In all of those situations, the NC450 is the right tool. For all electric strikes, browse our electric strikes catalog.
How the Vertical Alignment Works
Different cylindrical locksets mount their latch bolts at different heights on the door edge. A standard ANSI prep puts the latch centerline at a specific location, but real-world installations vary. On a conventional electric strike, if the frame cutout and the keeper don't align with the latch bolt, you cut the frame until they do.
The NC450 handles this differently. The strike body has a vertical adjustment that moves the keeper up or down relative to the mounting plate. You position the strike at the frame, adjust the vertical alignment until the keeper lines up with the latch bolt, and fasten it in place. No measurement of the existing cutout, no frame modification, no template matching.
NC450 vs CS450: No-Cut vs Standard Installation
Both the NC450 and the CS450 are Locknetics electric strikes accepting latch bolts up to 9/16 inch, running on 12 or 24 VDC, with field-selectable fail-safe and fail-secure via screw reversal, and two faceplates included.
The installation method is the only functional difference. The CS450 is the standard installation model that may require a frame cutout to fit the strike body correctly. The NC450 is the no-cut version with vertical adjustment that mounts without frame modification.
Specify the NC450 when frame cutting is not an option. Specify the CS450 when the frame is being prepped during new construction or a renovation where framework is already being done.
