The NGP 115NA is the 84-inch smoke-rated astragal set in clear anodized aluminum with an EPDM seal insert. The aluminum carrier strip mounts to the door leaf. The EPDM insert compresses against the meeting leaf when both doors close, sealing the gap. The set covers a full 84-inch (7-foot) door height. Six stainless steel sheet metal screws are furnished. Screw holes in the carrier strip are slotted, which allows the astragal position to be adjusted after mounting so it doesn't interfere with the door closing and latching properly. Code Compliance and UL Listing

The NGP 115NA meets Category H Smoke and Draft Control requirements. It is tested to UL 1784 and meets NFPA 105 and IBC requirements for use on "S" label (smoke-rated) doors. It is also positive pressure tested to UL 10C, which covers the conditions a door assembly faces during a fire when pressure differentials push smoke and flame through gaps.

Fire door application ratings from NGP documentation:

• Hollow metal fire doors: rated up to 3 hours

• Wood fire doors: rated up to 1-1/2 hours

These ratings apply when the astragal is installed per the NGP installation instructions. The installation sequence requires drilling 7/64-inch pilot holes at the slotted hole locations, installing the astragal, then adjusting position so the doors close and latch without the astragal impeding them.

Important: Astragal Sets Cannot Replace Fire Label Astragals

IBC, NFPA 80, NFPA 105, and NFPA 252 all require that the gap at the meeting edge between fire-labeled doors must not exceed 1/8 inch. The NGP 115NA satisfies the smoke seal requirement at that gap. However, if the door manufacturer required a specific astragal as part of the door's fire label, the 115NA cannot substitute for that required astragal. The fire label astragal and the smoke seal astragal serve different code functions. Confirm with the door manufacturer and AHJ before specifying the 115NA as a replacement for any existing astragal that is part of the door's listed assembly.
