About this item
The BEST 8T37LSTK626 is the "L" function, cylinder-outside/blank-inside Grade 1 tubular deadbolt from the BEST T Series. It's a one-way deadbolt designed for applications where the deadbolt needs to be thrown and retracted only from the outside by key. There is no interior trim, no thumbturn, and no inside cylinder. The inside plate is blank. If you need a deadbolt that only authorized keyholders can operate and interior users have no control over the bolt at all, this is the correct function.
What "Cylinder/Blank" Means for This Application
In the BEST T Series function coding, "L" identifies a one-way cylinder/blank deadbolt. The outside has a full BEST cylinder housing that accepts any BEST core. The inside has a blank plate with no operating component. The deadbolt can be thrown and retracted exclusively by turning the key in the outside cylinder. No one on the inside can operate the bolt at all from that side of the door.
This function is specified on storage rooms, server rooms, electrical and mechanical rooms, janitorial closets, IT equipment rooms, and any controlled-access space where only authorized personnel with a key should ever be able to lock or unlock the door. It's also used on doors that staff lock from outside when securing a space and don't need inside bolt control during occupancy.
This is distinct from the "K" function (single cylinder with inside thumbturn), the "M" function (double cylinder, key both sides), and the "S" function (classroom, key throws bolt but inside only retracts). If any of those better describe your application, confirm the function letter before ordering.
8T3 Body and Faceplate
The 8T3 designation identifies the wider body version of the BEST T Series deadbolt. The faceplate is 1-1/8" x 2-1/4", compared to the narrower 8T2 at 1" x 2-1/4". The 8T3 faceplate matches the standard commercial door edge prep more commonly found on hollow metal and solid core wood doors. The tubular housing fits the industry-standard 1" bore.
Deadbolt Construction
The bolt is a 1" throw, 5/8" x 7/8" solid stainless steel deadbolt. Stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance over the life of the deadbolt without coating degradation. The bolt projects a full 1" into the strike, which is the Grade 1 security requirement and provides substantially more resistance to forced-entry compared to a springlatch.
Core Housing and Interchangeability
The 7-pin housing accepts all BEST cores, including standard BEST cylinders, Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC), and cores from most other IC-compatible manufacturers. The STK suffix on the model number identifies the standard rectangular strike: 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" meeting ANSI A156.36-2010. The deadbolt ships less core. The core is ordered and field-installed separately, which is standard practice in IC masterkey systems where cores are moved across locks on a project.
Door Thickness and Backset
The 8T3 fits doors from 1-3/8" to 3" thick, with 1-3/4" as the standard configuration. Backset is 2-3/4". The trim rose is 2-3/4" diameter, sized to cover the standard 2-1/8" cross-bore.
Finish and Warranty
626 is Satin Chromium, which is the commercial standard for satin chrome hardware finishes. The 8T Series carries a three-year mechanical warranty and a three-year finish warranty. Note that finish 613 carries no finish warranty per BEST's standard terms.
