About this item
The Trimco 1270CX is the cast, convex version of the 1270 Series wall bumper, one of the most widely specified metal-encased rubber door stops in commercial and institutional construction. It's a direct-to-wall-mounted door stop that protects both the wall and the door hardware from impact every time a door swings open. If you're searching for the Trimco 1270 wall stop, Trimco wall stop, or a rubber wall bumper for a commercial door schedule, the 1270CX is the cast convex configuration.
Understanding the 1270 Series Model Code
The 1270 Series model number tells you exactly what you're getting. "CX" means cast construction with a convex bumper profile. The full 1270 Series lineup is: 1270CV (cast concave), 1270WV (wrought concave), 1270CX (cast convex), and 1270WX (wrought convex). Special application variants include the CXPV (prison version) and CXSV (school surface-mount version). If your spec or drawing calls for the 1270CX, confirm the finish and order. If it calls for the 1270CV, that's the concave version listed separately.
Convex vs Concave: Which Profile to Specify
The CX is a convex profile, meaning the rubber bumper face curves outward toward the door when it makes contact. This is the standard and most commonly specified wall stop profile for commercial applications. The concave version (1270CV) cups inward. In most commercial door schedules, architects and facilities managers specify the convex profile unless the project's hardware schedule specifically calls for concave.
Cast vs Wrought Construction
The "C" in 1270CX identifies cast construction, as opposed to wrought (1270WX). Cast construction gives the housing more rigidity and dimensional accuracy and opens up a wider range of plated finishes including 605 Polished Brass and 625 Polished Chrome, which are only available on cast versions. Wrought construction is offered in 629 Polished Stainless Steel and 630 Satin Stainless Steel, which are only available on wrought versions. If a stainless steel finish is required for the project, the wrought 1270WX is the correct model. For all other standard architectural finishes, the cast 1270CX is the right specification.
Anti-Vandal Construction
Every 1270 Series wall bumper includes a heavy steel washer embedded directly into the rubber bumper body. This washer is cast in during manufacturing, not added externally. When someone attempts to remove or damage the rubber bumper from the outside, the embedded steel washer resists the force and keeps the bumper intact. This is the design feature that makes the 1270 Series the standard specification in schools, healthcare facilities, government buildings, and other high-abuse commercial environments.
For correctional facilities, the 1270CXPV prison version adds a torx screw, expansion shield, and an anti-rotation pin to the assembly, which physically prevents the wall bumper from being unscrewed or rotated off the wall from the outside.
Dimensions and Fasteners
Inside dimension is 1-3/8". Outside diameter is 2-3/16". Projection from wall is 1". The 1270CX ships with a combination fastener pack that includes hardware for multiple wall substrate types, covering standard drywall, concrete, and masonry installations without requiring a separate fastener order. Material designation is cast L02101 per BHMA standards.
Available Finishes
The 1270CX is available in most standard architectural finishes including 605 Polished Brass, 611 Polished Bronze, 612 Satin Bronze, 613 Dark Bronze, 619 Satin Nickel, 625 Polished Chrome, and 626 Satin Chrome, among others. Confirm finish availability when ordering.
