Dormakaba ES105 Electric Power transfer (recommended for ES, DE & MLR options)

Every Dormakaba 9000 Series exit device with an electric option (ES, DE, or MLR) needs power delivered from the building's electrical system to the device mounted on the door. The problem is simple: the door swings open and closed, and wires don't swing. A direct wire run from the frame to the door would bend and break within hundreds of cycles at the pivot point. The ES105 solves this with a flexible conduit system that routes power from the frame side through the door edge to the device body. As the door swings open to 120° and back, the flexible tube accommodates the full range of motion without stressing the conductors inside. When the door is closed, the entire unit disappears into the door edge: completely concealed, no exposed hardware on the door face.

The stainless steel housing mortises into the door edge with a narrow, shallow channel that fits standard door edge preparations. ES, DE, and MLR: The Three Options This Transfer Serves

The ES105 product name lists three electric options because the power transfer is not function-specific: it carries power to whichever electric function is installed in the 9000 Series device body.

ES (Electric Strike) means the exit device is integrated with an electric strike function, allowing outside entry to be controlled by an access control panel. The ES105 transfers access control power to the device from the frame-mounted controller.

DE (Delayed Egress) means the exit device incorporates a built-in time delay, typically 15 to 30 seconds, that holds the door closed after the inside push bar is activated. The ES105 transfers the power required for the delay timer, alarm sounder, and release mechanism.

MLR (Motor Latch Retraction) means an electric motor inside the device body retracts the latch bolt on the access control signal for outside entry. The ES105 transfers access control signal power from the frame to the motor in the device.

All three require a flexible power conduit from frame to door. The ES105 provides it.

Installation Notes

The ES105 mortises into the door edge on the hinge side. The channel is narrow and shallow enough that standard hollow metal and aluminum doors accommodate it without structural compromise to the door panel. The flexible tube exits the door edge and connects to the exit device's electrical terminals. Wire routing from the frame to the ES105 channel typically runs through the frame conduit to the top hinge location, where the tube begins its routing into the door.
