The QCL250-E is the Entry/Office function in the Dormakaba QCL200 Series Grade 2 cylindrical lock family. The "250" is the function code (ANSI F109 Entry/Office). The "E" is the lever style: Sierra lever, a clean commercial profile on a standard rose. The "Schlage C" is the keyway: Schlage's most widely distributed commercial keyway, compatible with virtually any Schlage-keyed facility master key system. All three are in the model number, which is how the QCL200 Series is specified: function first, lever style second, keyway third.
The Entry/Office function (ANSI F109) has two inside push-button modes that give the inside occupant control over outside access. A single press of the button locks the outside lever: the lever locks until either a key is used from outside or the inside lever is depressed. A press-and-turn of the button puts the lock in a more secure state: the outside lever locks and stays locked until the button is manually released from inside; key entry from outside does NOT reset the button in this mode. Clutch mechanism disengages the outside lever from the latch when the button is engaged, so torque attacks on the outside lever have no effect on the internal mechanism. ANSI F109 Two-Mode Push Button: Both Modes
Mode one (single press): Outside lever locks. Outside entry requires a key from the corridor. Turning the inside lever releases the button and restores normal operation on the next outside entry.
Mode two (press and turn): Outside lever locks in a maintained state. A key from outside enters but does NOT reset the button. Someone inside must manually release the button to return the door to normal operation. This mode is used in office suites where management wants the door to stay locked between keyed visitor entries without inside staff needing to re-engage the button each time.
