About this item
The LRC lever style is the defining choice on this version of the Dormakaba C540. Both the C540 LCC and the C540 LRC are the same lock: same ANSI F76 privacy function, same Grade 2 certification, same lockcase, same backset. The LRC is the LRC lever profile, available in two finishes where the LCC is available in one. The LRC ships in both 626 Satin Chrome and 613 Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, making it the correct specification when the adjacent hardware on the door runs a darker bronze finish that 626 Satin Chrome won't coordinate with.
The function is the same on both versions. ANSI F76 privacy: both levers operate the latch freely in the normal state, the inside push button locks the outside lever for privacy, and three things release it back to normal. Turning the inside lever releases the outside lever on exit. The door closing releases the push button automatically, so the door resets to unlock without any manual step after the occupant leaves. An emergency coin slot on the outside allows release if the occupant can't respond. For all commercial and residential lever locks, browse our commercial locks catalog.
ANSI F76 Privacy Function: Bedroom and Bathroom Applications
The privacy function is built around two user needs that operate independently. The occupant inside needs to lock the outside lever without a key, in a single action (one press of the push button), and needs to be able to exit without unlocking manually. Visitors outside need emergency access if the occupant is incapacitated. The C540 LRC satisfies both needs.
Push button in: outside lever locks. The door can't be opened from outside by a lever. The push button stays engaged until one of three things happens. The inside lever turns for exit (button releases simultaneously). The door closes (button releases on contact with frame). An emergency tool or coin retracts the button from outside. No key required at any stage. Inside lever is always operable regardless of button state.

C540 LRC vs. C540 LCC: Which to Choose
LRC and LCC are two lever profile designs on the same C500 Series lockcase. Mechanically they're identical: same Grade 2 certification, same ANSI F76 function, same 2-3/4" backset, same strike, same installation template. The visual difference is the lever shape. LRC has the rounded/curved lever profile; LCC is a different profile suited to a different aesthetic. The LRC is also available in 613 Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, which the LCC does not offer. If the door hardware adjacent to this lock runs in a dark bronze finish, specify LRC in 613. If it runs in satin chrome or bright brass, both lever styles are available.
C500 Series Privacy vs. Other Privacy Functions
The C540 is the privacy function in the C500 Series. The C510 below it is passage: no locking at all, both levers always free. The C553 above it is entry/office: the push button requires key release from outside, not just a coin slot. Privacy sits between those two in terms of outside access security. For residential doors like bedrooms and bathrooms, the C540 privacy function is the correct specification because it provides privacy without requiring a key for any operation.
