The A53PD carries ANSI Function F109, the standard entrance or office function. The latchbolt operates by knob from either side at all times when the outside knob is not locked. Two separate push-button locking modes are available: pushing and turning the interior button locks the outside knob and holds it locked until a key is used to unlock it from the outside; pushing the button without turning locks the outside knob until it is manually unlocked by the interior knob rotation or a key from the exterior. The inside knob is always free for egress in both modes. This dual-mode button makes the A53PD the correct choice for office entries, residential front doors, and light commercial entrances where the occupant needs flexible control over when the door is accessible from outside.

Patented Door Range Adjuster

The Schlage A Series includes a patented door range adjuster that allows quick field adjustment for doors ranging from 1-3/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch thick. No tools required to change the door thickness setting. Cold-rolled steel hubs are machined and threaded to prevent chassis loosening over time. The heavy-duty cast mounting plate with specially tapped holes keeps the lockset tight against the door face under repeated use.

Keying and Cylinder Options

The A53PD Plymouth is available in multiple keying configurations: keyed different, keyed alike, master keyed, grand master keyed, and construction keyed. Construction keying allows the lock to be operated by a temporary construction key during the build phase, then converted to the permanent key system when the project completes. Interchangeable core cylinder options are available for facilities running IC key management programs.
