The L9095 function electrically locks and unlocks both levers. When power is applied in EL (Electrically Locked) mode, both the inside and outside levers are locked. Power interruption releases both levers, making EL the fail safe configuration. When power is applied in EU (Electrically Unlocked) mode, both levers are unlocked. Power interruption locks both levers, making EU the fail secure configuration. The latchbolt can be retracted by key from either the inside or outside cylinder at any time. The auxiliary latch deadlocks the latchbolt when the door is closed and the lever is in the locked state.

This function is specified on access-controlled openings where both sides of the door need to be simultaneously controlled by a single electrical signal, such as security vestibule entries, pharmacy dispensaries, high-security laboratory doors, and any opening where the credential verification system controls both entry and exit rather than just one direction.

The L9095 replaces the legacy L9082EL/EU, which was the previous designation for this function in the Schlage L Series lineup.

User-Selectable EL/EU: Fail Safe or Fail Secure in One Lock

The L9095 ships as a single lock body that serves both fail safe and fail secure applications. The mode switch is located on the lock case and does not require disassembly, a new solenoid, or a different lock order. For specifiers who need to confirm which mode is correct before the hardware schedule is locked in, or for facilities teams who need to change fire alarm integration behavior after installation, this field-selectable capability eliminates the cost of ordering two different hardware configurations.

Electrical Specifications

The L9095 motor-driven mechanism auto-detects 12V or 24V DC without manual voltage selection. This universal input eliminates voltage specification errors on multi-lock access control projects and simplifies procurement when power supply output may vary across different panel manufacturers.

Maximum current draw is 0.4 amps. Holding current in the locked state is 0.01 amps. That holding current level produces minimal heat in the lock body, which prevents "hot lever" conditions in electrically locking applications and allows reliable operation in wood door installations and enclosed cabinet environments where heat dissipation is limited. Multiple locks can run on a single power supply without overloading the circuit.

Monitoring and Access Control Options

The L9095 is compatible with optional monitoring switches available in the L9000 Series: RX (Request to Exit) monitors inside lever operation for valid exit logging and door alarm suppression; DPS (Door Position Switch) monitors whether the door is open or closed; latchbolt monitor (LBM) confirms latch position; deadbolt monitor (DBM) confirms deadbolt position on deadbolt functions. These options are available factory-installed or as field-installed accessories.
