Accentra Yale 1210 LFIC: What Large Format Interchangeable Core Means
Large format interchangeable cores are removable cylinder cores that pull out of and install into a housing using a control key, without any tools and without removing the lock from the door. The control key engages a shear line that is separate from the operating shear line, allowing the core to rotate free of the housing and slide out. A replacement core slides in and the lock is back in service in seconds.
This rekeying method eliminates the need for a locksmith to travel to each door, disassemble the hardware, repin the cylinder, and reassemble. A facilities manager or authorized personnel can rekey an entire building in a fraction of the time a traditional pin-change rekey requires. When a key is lost or stolen, the security response is immediate rather than delayed waiting for a locksmith.
The 1210 core is 1-1/2 inch in total diameter, which is the standard LFIC footprint for Yale and Accentra lock housings. It is 6-pin for operating key purposes. The housing itself is 7-pin in length to accommodate the control key's separate shear line at the top level. This architecture is how all LFIC systems separate the control function from the change key function.

Available Keyways for the 1210 LFIC
The 1210 core is available across multiple Yale and Accentra-proprietary keyways as well as BEST-compatible keyways for facilities running mixed systems. Available keyways include PARA, TA, GB, GC, GD, GF, GA, SB, SD, and SC. BEST keyways A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, and M are also available for facilities ordering Accentra cores into an existing BEST keyway system.
Confirm the keyway currently installed in the housing before ordering. Installing a 1210 core with the wrong keyway will not compromise the housing, but the operating keys will not work.
Ordering Notes: Control Keys, Master Keying, and 0-Bitted Cores
When ordering cores only without a complete lock, control keys are not automatically included. If control keys are required to add the new cores to the existing system, specify them in order. For new master key systems, submit keying instructions with the order. For cores being added to an existing Yale or Accentra LFIC master key system, submit the bitting list.
A 0-bitted core ships with all pins at zero depth and requires combinating in the field before installation.
