About this item
The Accentra 1801 is the standard conventional cylinder for Yale's 5300 and 5400 Series cylindrical knob locksets. If you searched "accentra 5400", "yale 5300", "accentra cylinder catalog", or related cylinder queries-the 1801 is the replacement or keying cylinder that fits directly into these two widely deployed commercial cylindrical lock series. Accentra is the current brand name for Yale commercial hardware under ASSA ABLOY. The 1801 model number carries forward directly from the Yale catalog. Same cylinder, same compatibility, same keyway options-new brand label.
What the 1801 Cylinder Is and Where It Fits
The 1801 is a standard conventional cylinder-a non-interchangeable core cylinder that pins conventionally rather than accepting a removable IC core. It's the factory-standard cylinder shipped with Yale 5300 and 5400 Series knob locks, and it's also the correct replacement cylinder when an existing 5300 or 5400 knob needs to be rekeyed by replacing the entire cylinder rather than repinning.
The 5300 Series is Yale's Grade 2 cylindrical knob lockset-heavy-gauge cold-rolled steel mechanism, adjustable for 1-3/8 to 1-3/4-inch doors, standard in commercial and institutional applications where knob hardware is the specification. The 5400LN Series is Yale's Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lever lockset-free-wheeling lever mechanism, wear-resistant chassis plates, thread-locking thrubolts, lifetime warranted lever return springs. Both series use the 1801 cylinder as their standard conventional cylinder specification.
1801 vs 1802: Which Cylinder Your Lock Actually Needs
This is the most common ordering error on this product. The Accentra 1801 and 1802 are both conventional cylinders for the 5300/5400 Series, but they serve different applications within that platform.
The 1801 is the standard cylinder for 5300 and 5400 Series knob locks and 540F Series trim. It's the factory cylinder in the knob version of these locksets.
The 1802 is the standard cylinder for 5400LN, 6400LN, and inTouch lever locks, as well as 440F, 540F, and 580F Series trims. For 4700LN and 5300LN lever locks, a separate sleeve (part 14-5305-9078-999) is required when using the 1802.
Before ordering, confirm whether your 5300 or 5400 lockset has a knob or a lever, and which specific model number you have. Ordering the wrong cylinder means the cylinder won't seat correctly in the housing.
Keyways Available on the 1801
The 1801 ships in two keyway families: PARA and G-series. PARA (also referenced as ER1 keyway) is the Yale Para keyway-the standard Yale keyway used across their residential and commercial hardware lines. G-series keyways include GA, GB, GC, GD, GE, GF, GG, and GH-restricted keyways that provide a higher level of key control for commercial and institutional master key systems where unauthorized key duplication is a concern.
PARA cylinders ship keyed-the ER1 keyway version comes with two cut operating keys and can be ordered keyed different (KD) or keyed alike (KA). All G-series keyway cylinders ship 0-bitted-uncut, requiring combinating in the field or at a service center before the cylinder will operate.
0-Bitted Explained
A 0-bitted cylinder ships with all cuts at the zero depth. The cylinder physically won't turn with any standard key until it's combinated to a specific cut. Locksmiths and hardware distributors combinate 0-bitted cylinders to match an existing key system, pinning the cylinder to the customer's key cuts before installation. If you order a G-series 1801, you must combinate it before it will function. If you need a cylinder ready to install and operate immediately, order the PARA ER1 keyway keyed version and specify KD or KA.
KA and KD: Keyed Alike vs Keyed Different
KA-Keyed Alike. Multiple cylinders ordered KA are all cut to the same key. One key opens all locks. Correct when you want a single key to operate multiple doors.
KD-Keyed Different. Each cylinder gets a unique key cut. No key opens any other lock in the group. Correct when each door requires independent key control.
Accentra Cylinder Catalog Context
If you searched "accentra cylinder catalog" trying to find a cylinder cross-reference-the 1801 sits alongside several related Accentra cylinders for different series. The 1806 serves the 4600LN Series. The 1807 serves the D Series deadbolts. The 1802 serves lever-format 5400LN locks. The 2802 serves the 5300LN, 5400LN, 6400LN, and inTouch trim. Confirm the specific lockset series and function before selecting the cylinder.
