About this item
The Cal-Royal CAL30 is an ANSI F75 Grade 1 commercial passage lock from the Cal-Royal Calypso Series, designed for door openings that need a latch without locking -corridor doors, conference rooms, closet doors, equipment rooms, supply rooms, and any commercial opening where the door must close and latch but should never lock anyone in or out. Both inside and outside levers always retract the latch on operation. No keyed cylinder, no thumbturn, no push-button locking mechanism, just a free-action latch that secures the door against drafts, hallway noise, and casual entry while remaining accessible from either side at all times. UL-listed 1/2" throw solid brass latch bolts are reversible in the field for right-hand or left-hand applications without ordering different parts. The CAL30 meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1, the highest commercial cycle and abuse rating in the standard, and is suitable for high-traffic schools, hospitals, multi-tenant office buildings, retail, and institutional applications.
About the Cal-Royal Calypso Series and Grade 1 Specification
Cal-Royal Products is a U.S. commercial hardware manufacturer (Los Angeles, in business since 1986), known for value-engineered architectural hardware that meets the same ANSI/BHMA grade specifications as Schlage, Sargent, Best, and Falcon at a meaningfully lower price point. The Calypso Series is Cal-Royal's Grade 1 cylindrical lever lock platform, competing directly with Schlage ND Series, Sargent 10 Line, BEST 9K Series, and Falcon T Series at the Grade 1 spec tier. ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 is the highest cycle-life and abuse-resistance category for cylindrical locks, requiring 1,000,000+ operating cycles, vertical/horizontal load resistance, latch strength testing, and impact resistance well beyond Grade 2 or Grade 3 specs. Spec writers select Grade 1 locks for hospitals, schools, government buildings, healthcare, multi-tenant commercial buildings, and any application where the lock must outlast the building's first major renovation cycle. Within the Calypso Series, the CAL30 is the F75 Passage variant. For the broader Calypso Series Grade 1 family see Cal-Royal Calypso Series - Grade 1 within Cal Royal Lever Locks under Cylindrical Lever Locks in Commercial Locks.

When to Specify the CAL30 (and Which Calypso Variant Fits Other Functions)
The CAL30 ANSI F75 Passage is the right call when the door needs a latch but no locking -both sides always free, both levers always retract the latch. Common applications include hospital corridor doors between care zones, school classroom-to-corridor transitions, office building common-area doors, conference rooms, supply closets, equipment rooms, mechanical rooms with no security requirement, and retail back-of-house pass-through doors.
If the door needs a different function, the Calypso Series covers the full ANSI function code range with sibling SKUs:
