The Cal-Royal CRCODE007 is a digital keyless lever trim for Cal-Royal rim exit devices. It replaces the standard mechanical outside trim on a 6600, 7700, or 9800 series rim exit device and adds electronic keypad access -without removing the mechanical key cylinder as a backup. From inside, the exit device push bar operates normally for egress at any time. From the outside, entry can be gained either by entering the correct PIN on the keypad or by using a key in the mechanical lock cylinder. Both methods work independently.
Dual Mode: Keypad and Mechanical Key Both Work
This is the critical distinction of the CRCODE007 -it's a dual-mode system. Entry from outside is possible two ways: electronic code entry through the keypad, or physical key in the cylinder. The cylinder doesn't disable when the keypad is active, and the keypad doesn't require the cylinder to function. If the battery dies or a user forgets their code, the mechanical key still opens the door. For facility managers, this means a digital exit trim that can be deployed without removing the existing key system or creating a single point of failure.
Storeroom vs Classroom Function
The CRCODE007 ships from the factory in storeroom function. In storeroom mode, the outside lever is always rigid. Entry from outside requires either a valid code on the keypad or a mechanical key -no exceptions. In classroom function, a key or code alternates the outside lever between locked and unlocked states, allowing the lever to work freely when the door has been unlocked, which is useful for high-traffic classrooms during open periods. Switching between the two functions is done via the programming menu using the master code.
90 User Codes, 4 to 6 Digits
The CRCODE007 stores up to 90 individual numeric user codes. Each code can be 4, 5, or 6 digits long. The code length is consistent across the system -you set one digit length during setup and all user codes use that format. 90 codes is sufficient for most departmental access control situations: a floor of employees, a residential building hallway, a school wing. Programming is done via a master code -no software, no USB connection, no laptop required. Settings and all programmed codes remain stored in memory when the batteries are removed, so a battery change doesn't trigger a full reprogramming session.
Alarm on Failed Attempts
After 3 incorrect code entries, the CRCODE007 triggers an audible alarm. This deters code-guessing attacks and alerts anyone nearby that an unauthorized access attempt is happening. The alarm is built into the trim -no external alarm panel or system integration is required for this feature.
Fire Alarm Integration and Remote Release
The CRCODE007 includes connection points for two external inputs: a remote release switch and a fire alarm system interface. The fire alarm connection allows the outside trim to automatically release or lock based on the fire alarm signal -depending on your code requirement and system design. The remote release switch connection allows the door to be released from a central control point, which is useful in staffed reception or security desk applications.
Compatible Devices and Handing
The CRCODE007 is compatible with Cal-Royal 6600, 7700, and 9800 series rim exit devices. It is handed -you must specify Left Hand Reverse (LHR) or Right Hand Reverse (RHR) when ordering. The CRCODE007L is the heavy duty clutch version for 7700 and 9800 series only, for higher-use applications.
