About this item
The Corbin Russwin ML2010 NSA is the passage function in the ML2000 Series with the Newport (NS) lever and the A round rose. Passage function means ANSI F01: both levers always free, no cylinder, no locking mechanism. Either lever retracts the latch from either side at all times. It's the correct specification for interior corridors, conference rooms, hallways, break rooms, and any opening in a commercial or institutional building that needs to latch shut but requires no access control. The Newport lever gives this lock a traditional, transitional aesthetic suited for institutional environments, hospitality projects, and buildings where a more classic lever profile is specified across the door schedule.

ANSI F01 Passage Function: What It Means
ANSI Function F01 (Passage or Closet) means the latch bolt is operated by lever from either side at all times. There is no locked state. No key, no thumb turn, and no push button can restrict access through the door from either side. The inside lever is always free for immediate egress, and the outside lever is equally free at all times. If the project specification calls for any locking capability on this opening at any point, the ML2010 passage function is not the correct lock. The correct function would be ML2050 (entrance), ML2057 (storeroom), or ML2070 (classroom) depending on the security requirement.

Newport Lever vs. Other ML2000 Lever Designs
The Newport (NS) lever has a traditional, curved profile that suits institutional, hospitality, and government building interiors where a classic lever shape is part of the architectural standard. It sits alongside the Lustra (LW), Regis (RW), and 59 other lever designs available across the ML2000 Series. The lever style does not affect function, certifications, or mechanical performance. It affects only aesthetics and compatibility with adjacent hardware trim in the same building. If your door schedule specifies Newport levers on other ML2000 functions such as entrance or storeroom, the ML2010 NSA ensures visual consistency on the passage doors across the building.
Patented Quick Reversible Latchbolt
The ML2000 lock body features Corbin Russwin's patented Quick Reversible latchbolt. Handing can be reversed in the field without removing or disassembling the lock case from the door. On a passage function where the door might be reused on a different opening during a renovation, this keeps hardware costs down by eliminating the need to purchase a new lock when the swing changes.
Multi-Function Lockbody: Built-In Flexibility
Every ML2000 lock body accepts all 63 available functions including mechanical, electrified, status indicator, and behavioral health configurations. A passage door that later needs to be converted to an entrance function during a tenant buildout or security upgrade can be re-trimmed with a new trim set without changing the mortise lock body. That's the long-term value argument for specifying ML2000 on a passage opening rather than a Grade 2 cylindrical lever, even when the passage function itself doesn't require mortise-level security.
