About this item
The Corbin Russwin ML2010 NSM is the passage function in the ML2000 Series configured with the Newport (NS) lever and the M escutcheon trim. The difference between this configuration and the ML2010 NSA is the trim plate: the A configuration uses a small round rose, while the NSM uses the larger M escutcheon, a rectangular or elongated trim plate that provides more surface coverage on the door face and a more substantial visual presence at the opening. On doors where the lock prep area needs to be covered more completely, or where the design specification calls for a larger trim footprint to match adjacent hardware, the M escutcheon is the correct selection.
Function remains ANSI F01 in both configurations: both levers always free, no cylinder, no locking mechanism. The latch bolt retracts when either lever is turned from either side at all times. A Rose vs. M Escutcheon: Choosing the Right Trim
This is one of the most common questions when specifying ML2000 Series locks. The A rose is a compact round trim plate that gives a minimal, clean appearance on the door face. It's suited for modern interiors where a smaller hardware footprint is preferred. The M escutcheon is a larger, elongated trim plate that covers more of the door surface around the spindle and cylinder prep area. It suits traditional and institutional interiors where a more formal hardware appearance is part of the specification, and it provides additional surface coverage that can conceal door prep imperfections on retrofit installations.
Neither choice affects function, certifications, or mechanical performance. Both are thru-bolted for proper alignment and security. The choice is based entirely on aesthetic requirements and trim size preferences from the architect or specifier.

Why Specify ML2000 on a Passage Opening
A Grade 2 cylindrical passage lever is less expensive than an ML2000 mortise lock. The ML2010 gets specified on passage openings for two reasons. First, consistency: when the rest of the building runs ML2000 Series mortise locks, specifying the same lock body on passage doors maintains uniform door prep, trim style, and finish coordination across the entire door schedule. Second, flexibility: the ML2000 multi-function lockbody accepts all 63 available functions without changing the mortise case in the door. If a passage opening later needs to be upgraded to entrance, classroom, or storeroom, only the trim changes. The lockbody stays, saving labor and hardware costs on future modifications.
Patented Quick Reversible Latchbolt
The ML2000 lockbody features Corbin Russwin's patented Quick Reversible latchbolt. Handing can be changed in the field without removing or disassembling the lock case from the door. No specialist tools required beyond standard installation hardware already on site.
