About this item
The Dormakaba PowerPlex P201UXSLL does not. The PowerStar mechanism inside this exit trim generates its own power from the mechanical energy of lever operation. Every time the outside lever is turned, a small generator creates electricity that charges an internal capacitor. That stored energy powers the keypad, the code verification, and the access logic for each subsequent entry. No batteries to replace. No battery monitoring. No service call because someone forgot to change the batteries and the lock stopped working during the weekend.
This is the exit trim, not a standalone lock. It installs on the outside of an existing rim, mortise, or surface vertical rod (SVR) exit device on the door. The exit device handles the latching and panic egress from inside. This trim handles outside access from the corridor: keypad PIN entry, Schlage C keyway cylinder override (cylinder included), and the PowerStar self-powered mechanism. The 062-514-148 Compatibility Kit
The P201UXSLL is compatible with most major rim and SVR exit devices out of the box. Detex Rim F1001, Detex SVR 20/F20, Dorma Rim F9300, Von Duprin Rim 89/99, Von Duprin SVR 9827/9927, Precision Rim 21/FL21, and Precision SVR 22/FL22 all install with no additional parts.
Two devices require an additional compatibility kit before this trim will work: Arrow Rim #3800 and Sargent Rim #8800. For those two devices, part number 062-514-148 (sometimes searched as "514-148") is required. This kit adapts the trim mounting to fit the specific cutout and spindle geometry of those exit device bodies. If you're installing on an Arrow 3800 or Sargent 8800, order the 062-514-148 kit at the same time as this trim.

PowerStar vs. Battery-Powered: Why No-Battery Matters on Exit Devices
Exit device doors are typically high-traffic commercial entries: main building entrances, stairwells, and corridor fire doors. The outside trim on these doors operates every time an authorized person needs to re-enter the building from outside, which on a busy commercial property can be dozens to hundreds of daily activations. Battery life on high-use doors is shorter than the product spec suggests because the spec assumes average use. PowerStar eliminates the depletion variable entirely: more use means more energy harvested, not faster battery drain. For facilities managers who oversee large buildings and can't reliably track battery status on dozens of exit device trims, the PowerStar no-battery architecture removes an entire category of maintenance.
