Dormakaba Simplex 1011-26D Pushbutton Lock - Satin Chrome

The Simplex 1011 doesn't need batteries. It doesn't need a network. It doesn't need a control panel or a technician to commission it. Five metal buttons on the front of the knob trim control access: press the right sequence and the knob turns. Press the wrong one and it spins freely. That's the whole system.

This is what people mean when they say "cipher lock" or "cypher lock." The Simplex 1000 Series invented that category. Airports, college dorms, utility corridors, manufacturing plants and hospital back-of-house doors have run on these locks for decades. When Kaba acquired Simplex and then Dormakaba absorbed Kaba, the name on the label changed. The lock didn't. A Simplex 1011, a Kaba Simplex 1011, and a Dormakaba Simplex 1011-26D-41 are the same mechanism.

One thing to be clear about before you order: the 1011 has no key override. The combination is the only way in from the outside. If someone forgets the code, you're calling a locksmith or breaking in. That's not a knock on the lock - it's the reason you'd specify it. Maximum access control, zero mechanical bypass. But if you need a key backup, the 1021 is the same body with a cylinder added. Both look identical from the outside.

What "Combination Entry Only" means day to day

Outside knob: combination required every single time. Inside knob: always turns, no code needed, no restriction on egress. The door can't trap anyone inside. If you press the buttons in the wrong order, the outside knob just doesn't catch. Try again.

Codes are set and changed at the lock without tools. The Simplex system supports over 1,000 possible combinations from five buttons, with options for single presses and simultaneous presses in the same sequence.
