Falcon CB847 SFIC 7-Pin Core, Uncombinated, 0 Keys, Non-Handed

The Falcon CB847 ships with no key cuts and no keys. That's intentional. Uncombinated means the core arrives blank: the pin chambers are loaded with driver pins but no bottom pins have been set to a specific biting. You can't operate it with any key as it comes out of the box. The core goes to your locksmith or key control department, where they pin it to the specific biting required by your master key system. This is how facilities that maintain their own key programs source cores: uncombinated stock arrives, gets pinned to the system specifications, and is issued to the installation crew. No key control is compromised between the supplier and the final installation.

The CB847 is a 7-pin SFIC core. Seven pins means more possible key combinations than a 6-pin core, which matters on large master key systems where key differentiation becomes mathematically difficult with only 6 pins. If the facility runs a 7-pin master key system, every core in every SFIC lock needs to be 7-pin. Mixing 6-pin and 7-pin cores in a system creates cross-keying problems. SFIC: How the Core Works in Practice

The CB847 is BEST-compatible Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC). Once combinated and issued, it drops into any SFIC housing using the operating key. To remove it, you insert the control key, rotate it to the control position, and the core slides out. Removing a core takes about five seconds. Installing a replacement takes another five seconds. A maintenance technician can rekey a door in under a minute without removing the lock from the door, without a locksmith on site, and without drilling or destructive entry. That's the operational value of IC core systems.

The control key is separate from the operating key. Someone who has the operating key can open the door. Only someone with the control key can remove the core. On a properly administered system, the control key never leaves the security or facilities management office.

CB847 (7-Pin) vs. 6-Pin SFIC Core

Both the 7-pin CB847 and the 6-pin SFIC variant (sold separately) fit the same SFIC housings. The pin count determines the number of possible key combinations available in the system. A 7-pin system can accommodate a significantly larger master key hierarchy before key combinations overlap. For a 10-door office, 6-pin is almost certainly sufficient. For a university, hospital, or municipal building with hundreds of keyed openings across multiple master key levels, 7-pin provides the combination depth needed to maintain key separation throughout the hierarchy.
