Falcon MA321 Grade 1 Privacy Mortise Lock

The Falcon MA321 is a Grade 1 privacy mortise lock from the Falcon MA Series built for commercial spaces where people need temporary privacy without sacrificing staff emergency access. Hotels, healthcare exam rooms, office restrooms, treatment spaces-anywhere the door needs to lock from inside on demand and reset cleanly on exit. That's exactly what the MA321 does.

The function is ANSI F22. Both levers operate the latch freely in the unengaged state. When an occupant wants privacy, they engage the inside T-turn button. The outside lever locks immediately. Staff approaching from the corridor can't push it down. The emergency key furnished with every MA321 can retract the T-turn from outside when needed.

Three things release the T-turn: turning the inside lever to exit, using the emergency key from outside, and closing the door. That last one matters. When the occupant leaves and the door closes, the T-turn resets automatically. The room doesn't stay in a locked state after someone walks out. For hotel housekeeping schedules and healthcare room turnover, that auto-reset is a practical workflow benefit that the ANSI F19 deadbolt function on the Falcon MA311 doesn't provide.

MA321 vs MA311-Choosing the Right Privacy Function

The MA321 and MA311 use the same MA Series lock case, the same Grade 1 construction, and the same lever and finish options. The function is what separates them.

The MA321 (ANSI F22) engages a T-turn that locks the outside lever. The latch holds the door. Nothing enters the strike beyond the latch bolt. Auto-releases on door close.

The MA311 (ANSI F19) throws a full 1-inch deadbolt when the inside lever is turned. The bolt physically engages the strike pocket. Does not auto-release on door close-the occupant must turn the inside lever to retract the deadbolt on exit. Better security during privacy. Correct pick for hotel guest room unit doors and any application where kick resistance during the privacy state matters.

If the opening needs latch lockout with convenient auto-release, MA321. If it needs deadbolt-level security during privacy, MA311.
