About this item

The HES 9000-108 is the 1/8-inch spacer plate that corrects this. It installs between the HES 9500 or 9600 Series electric strike body and the back of the frame cutout, pushing the strike face forward by exactly 1/8 inch. That adjustment gets the strike face back to flush with the frame and restores the correct geometry between the strike keeper and the door latch bolt. Comes in a pack of four, sold as a set. Finish is 630 Satin Stainless Steel to match the most common HES 9500/9600 installation finish. For all HES electric strike accessories, browse our electric strikes catalog.

When You Need a Spacer Plate

The need for a spacer plate isn't a defect in the strike or the frame. Door frames have manufacturing tolerances, and in hollow metal construction the backbox depth can vary. On retrofit installations where an existing mechanical strike is being replaced with an HES electric strike, the existing cutout depth may not match the electric strike's installation geometry exactly. On new construction, the frame prep may be cut to standard dimensions that work correctly with most strikes but land slightly off for the HES 9500 or 9600 body profile.

If the strike face sits recessed from the frame face after installation, the spacer plate is the correct adjustment. Install the 9000-108 shim plate between the strike body and the frame, re-install the strike, and the face moves forward by 1/8 inch. If 1/8 inch is not enough offset, HES offers additional spacer plate thicknesses in the 9000-series accessory line.

300-COED-9400: Hardware Schedule Reference

Some architects and hardware consultants specify the HES 9400/9500/9600 strike systems using configuration codes on hardware schedules. The designation "300-COED-9400" in a hardware schedule refers to a specific HES 9400 Series electric strike configuration code. If your project specification includes that code and your installation requires a spacer plate, the HES 9000-108 is the 1/8-inch shim accessory for the 9400, 9500, and 9600 Series strike bodies.

Spacer Plate Thickness Options

The HES 9000-series accessory line includes spacer plates in multiple thicknesses to cover different installation offset requirements. The 9000-108 is the 1/8-inch version. For frame cutouts that require more offset, thicker versions are available. Confirm the required offset by measuring the gap between the installed strike face and the frame face before ordering. The measurement tells you which spacer thickness to order.
