About this item
The KSP 207 is a 7-pin Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) in uncombinated (unkeyed) configuration, satin chrome finish (26D). Uncombinated means the core ships from the factory without any pins set to a specific key combination-it's blank, ready to be pinned or master-keyed by a locksmith or facility key control department to any key combination you specify.
KSP (Killeen Security Products) has been manufacturing SFIC cores since the 1980s. Every KSP 207 core is made in the USA with a brass plug, brass sleeve, brass body assembly, and stainless steel snap ring.
What SFIC Means and Why It Matters
Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) is the standard established by BEST that lets you swap a core in and out of a lockset using a control key-no tools, no removing the lock from the door. One control key removes the old core. Drop in the new core. Done. Rekeying an entire building doesn't require a locksmith to visit every door.
SFIC cores are also cross-manufacturer compatible. The KSP 207 works in locksets from BEST, Arrow, Falcon, and other manufacturers that accept SFIC cores. You can run KSP cores in BEST-prepped locksets, or mix KSP and BEST cores across doors on the same key system.
That cross-compatibility is the reason "ksp cores" and "ksp 207" get consistent search volume-facilities managers running BEST-system buildings often source KSP as an OEM-compatible alternative at a lower cost.
7 Pin vs 6 Pin: Which to Specify
The KSP 206 is the 6-pin version. The KSP 207 is the 7-pin version. Seven-pin cores provide more possible key combinations than six-pin cores, which matters for larger facilities with complex master key systems where key combination space is a real constraint. Seven-pin SFIC is also specified by some manufacturers' premium locksets as the standard configuration.
Check your lockset specification and existing key system documentation before ordering-some SFIC locksets accept either 6 or 7 pin, while others are configured for one specifically.
Keyways Available on the KSP 207
The KSP 207 in uncombinated configuration is available in 19 keyways. The keyway designation becomes part of the part number (for example, KSP 207-A-26D is the A keyway in satin chrome).
Available keyways: A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, Q, 1C, 1D, KMT100, KMT300, LT10.
The A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, and Q keyways are standard BEST-compatible keyways used across BEST, Arrow, Falcon, and KSP locksets. The DD, 1C, 1D, KMT100, KMT300, and LT10 keyways serve specific restricted or proprietary key systems.
When ordering, match the keyway letter to your existing key system. If you're building a new system from scratch and selecting a keyway for key control purposes, restrict access to the keyway blank through your distributor or key control program.
