How the LCN 2614 Auto Equalizer Works

The 2610 series Auto Equalizer is an air-powered (pneumatic) operator, not an electromechanical motor operator. Compressed air delivered through a connected control box opens the door by driving a pneumatic cylinder that actuates the concealed door closer mechanism. This means the operator has no motor, no gearbox, and no drive belt. The moving parts are pneumatic and hydraulic, which makes the 2614 quieter than electric operators and better suited to multi-door installations where running individual motor operators per door would be cost-prohibitive.

The system requires a control box with an integral compressor, or a control box connected to an auxiliary air supply, to operate. The LCN AI22614 control box is the companion unit for this operator. Each control box can serve multiple doors on a shared air supply, which is the core cost advantage of the 2610 Auto Equalizer over electromechanical alternatives on larger projects.

Size 4: Door Width and Application Range

LCN sizes automatic operators by closing force, not by door width. The 2614 is the Size 4 unit, the heavier-duty variant in the 2610 series. Size 4 is specified for perimeter doors (exterior-facing entries) and high-traffic interior openings where a Size 3 (2613) would be underspecified for the door weight or frequency of use. The 2614 is rated for heavy-duty applications and handles larger or heavier door leaves, including wide commercial entrance doors on office buildings, hospitals, schools, government facilities, and retail strip malls.

Concealed Frame Mount: Aesthetic and Structural Advantage

The 2614 mounts concealed inside the door frame header, not on the door surface or top jamb. The only hardware visible after installation is the single lever track arm and the track mounted in the door. This concealed mounting makes the 2614 the correct specification for aesthetic-driven applications, historic building renovations, high-security openings where surface-mounted hardware would be a vandalism target, and any doorway where the overhead appearance must remain clean.

This also means the 2614 is retrofittable into existing frames with adequate frame depth, without structural modification to the door leaf.
