The LCN 9531 is the pull-side, surface-mounted configuration of the 9530 Senior Swing Series, LCN's heavy-duty electromechanical automatic door operator for high-traffic and high-abuse commercial applications. It's the operator specified on ADA-accessible entrances, healthcare facility corridors, educational building main entries, government facilities, and any opening where both automatic powered operation for wheelchair users and standard manual operation for pedestrians are required from the same unit.
The "31" in the model number designates the pull-side slide track arm configuration. The 9531 mounts on the pull side of the door, which is the hinge side from outside the building or the side a person pulls toward them when entering. If you need push-side mounting, the correct model is the 9542. For simultaneous double-door operation, the 9553 is the relevant unit.
Two-in-One Operation
The Senior Swing Series is designed to serve both powered and manual traffic at the same opening without separate hardware. When a user activates the operator through an actuator, the door opens automatically to a full 90-degree swing at a controlled, ADA-compliant speed. When regular pedestrian traffic uses the door manually, the unit functions as a standard door closer and does not require activation. That two-in-one behavior is what makes the Senior Swing the practical specification on an accessible entrance that serves both powered-chair users who need automation and the general public who don't.
Push 'N Go and Power Boost
The 9531 includes Push 'N Go non-switch activation. When a pedestrian opens the door manually to just 5 degrees of travel, the operator detects the movement and takes over, holding the door fully open for a programmable 1 to 30 seconds before beginning controlled closure. This eliminates the need to hit an actuator for pedestrians who simply push the door open by hand, making the entrance more convenient for deliveries, staff with full hands, and light manual traffic without requiring an activation signal.
Power Boost provides additional motorized force during the closing cycle to overcome wind pressure, HVAC stack pressure, or carpet drag that might otherwise prevent the door from fully latching. On exterior doors with prevailing wind conditions or high-HVAC-pressure corridors, Power Boost keeps the door reliably latching every cycle without manual adjustment.
What Ships with the 9531
The 9530 Series ships complete with the motor gearbox, control box, standard slide track arm, 36" header, and all mounting hardware. Actuators, including push plates, touchless wave sensors, and keypad triggers, are ordered separately based on your project's accessibility and security requirements. The standard arm has a 2-3/4" spindle center.
Header Length and Door Sizing
The standard 36" header comes included. If you need a different size, you can choose custom header lengths ranging from 33" to 48" in 1/8" increments with the HDR option. For larger openings, the HDR2 option offers headers from 48 1/8" up to 98". The 9531 accommodates doors from 33" to 48" wide with a standard 90-degree swing. Hold-open period is adjustable from 2 to 32 seconds in both automatic and manual modes.
Senior Swing IQ
LCN offers the 9500IQ as the next-generation version of the Senior Swing Series, featuring AdaptivIQ technology that self-adjusts to external pressures like wind, carpet drag, and HVAC conditions automatically. The IQ control box has 23 adjustable features, an LCD display, and a self-calibration cycle.
