About this item
The Norton Rixson 6332 is the push side, top jamb, double lever arm configuration of the 6300 Series low energy electromechanical door operator, fitted with the 39-5/8-inch arm that covers door widths from 36 to 48 inches. It mounts on the push side of the door - the side you push to enter - with the operator body on the frame head (top jamb) and the double lever arm connecting from the operator to the door face. When an activation signal comes in, the operator drives the door open. When the door is released, it closes and latches automatically. If power goes off, the 6332 functions as a standard mechanical surface closer. The door still closes. The building doesn't lose egress control.
The 6300 Series uses electromechanical technology rather than the electrohydraulic system in the 6000 Series. The result is one of the slimmest surface-mounted operator profiles available. This matters on applications with minimal header space above the door frame where a larger operator body simply doesn't fit. The 6332 installs where the 6000 Series can't without a custom header extension or structural modification.
Push Side Double Lever Arm: What This Configuration Means
The double lever arm is the correct arm configuration for push side top jamb mounting. It's a two-piece pivoting arm - upper and lower sections connected at a pivot joint - that attaches the operator output shaft to the door face. When the operator activates, the arm extends and drives the door open. When closing, the arm pulls the door through the arc back to the frame.
The "regular" designation distinguishes this arm from the heavy duty double lever arm on the 6061 Series. The 6332 regular duty configuration covers standard commercial applications - office building entries, healthcare corridor doors, accessible restroom entries, and institutional openings where the door weight stays within the standard duty operator range. For doors above 250 pounds or higher-frequency institutional traffic, the 6061 heavy duty is the correct step up.
The 6332 arm length of 39-5/8 inches covers the 36 to 48-inch door width range. For doors in the 32 to 36-inch range, the 6331 (37-3/8" arm) is the correct model. Confirm door width before ordering between the two. An undersized arm creates geometry problems at full door swing. An oversized arm on a narrow door creates clearance issues at the door stop.

6300 Series Feature Set: Standard Across All Models
The 6332 carries the full 6300 Series intelligence package. Power close drives the door to the fully latched position on every cycle - solving the most common automatic door problem, which is the door stopping just short of latch engagement. Latch assist adds a final push of force in the last few degrees of door swing to seat the latch bolt into the strike. Obstruction detection monitors both the opening and closing cycles: if the door hits an obstruction while opening, it stops and reverses; if it hits something while closing, it reopens. These aren't luxury features - on an ADA-required accessible door operator, they're the functions that keep the installation code-compliant under real-world conditions.
The operator is activated by wall-mounted push buttons, wave-to-open hands-free switches, or radio frequency (RF) devices depending on the activation hardware specified. An integrated LCD screen on the operator body displays programming parameters and allows field setup without a separate programming device. On-board electronics track usage and cycle count data continuously, which gives facilities teams the data to schedule preventive maintenance rather than responding to failures.
