Norton Rixson 8146 Door Closer Drop Plate for 8301/8501 Series

The Norton Rixson 8146 is the low ceiling clearance drop plate for Norton Rixson 8301 and 8501 Series door closers. It solves two distinct installation problems that both produce the same result: the closer can't mount in its standard top jamb position. One is a ceiling too close to the top of the door. The other is an existing door holder blocking the arm mounting location. The 8146 handles both.

8146 vs Other Norton Rixson Drop Plates

Norton Rixson makes several drop plates, each for a specific series and application. The 8146 is for 8301 and 8501 Series closers only. It is not interchangeable with drop plates for other Norton Rixson series.

For 1600 Series closers (1601, J1601, CLP1601, PR1601): the 1688 and 1687 are the correct drop plates - both available in related products on this page.

For 7500 Series closers: the 7788 is the correct drop plate. The 7788 addresses narrow top rail applications rather than low ceiling clearance, though both result in a lower closer mounting position.

Confirm the closer's series before ordering any drop plate. The first two digits of the model number identify the series. An 8301 is 8000 Series; a 1601 is 1600 Series.
