About this item
The PDQ GP115 is a Grade 2 cylindrical storeroom lock from PDQ's GP Series. ANSI function F86: inside lever always operates freely for egress, outside lever is always rigid and requires a key to retract the latch. That's the storeroom configuration - you can always get out, but entry from outside requires a key every time.
Grade 2 here doesn't mean light-duty. The GP115 lever withstands over 3 times the BHMA abusive lever torque test standard. PDQ sells this as a heavy-duty Grade 2 that out-performs most Grade 2 products on the market on the physical strength metrics that matter in high-traffic applications. It's assembled in the USA and meets Buy American Act requirements.
GP115 vs GP116: Choosing the Right GP Series Function
The GP115 (F86) is storeroom - outside rigid, key required for entry from outside, inside always free. This is the correct function for storage rooms, server rooms, equipment closets, and any space where people inside need to exit freely but outside access needs to be keyed every time.
The GP116 is a different function within the same GP Series. The GP hardware, trim, and chassis are identical - the function is what changes. If your hardware schedule calls for entrance, office, or another function in the GP line, confirm the function number before ordering.
The GP Series trim also matches PDQ's Grade 1 XGT and GT cylindrical locks, which means if you're running a mixed GP2 and GT1 installation on the same project, the lever profiles and rose designs are compatible across grades.
Door Prep and Backset
The GP115 fits ANSI 160 and 161 door prep - the same standard prep used by Schlage, Corbin Russwin, Von Duprin, and most other major cylindrical lock manufacturers. That means it retrofits all major competitor door preps without modification. If you're replacing an existing cylindrical lock on a commercial door, the GP115 almost certainly drops into the existing hole.
